What is your theme song?

edited September 2008 in Everything Else
One of the things I like about my job is that I can listen to music on my iPod while I'm working. When I run out of new podcast episodes to listen to I just set it on random shuffle to play through the songs I have loaded onto it. Today a song started playing that made me start thinking of what I was like when I was younger.

"The Kife Feels Like Justice" from Brian Setzer, former Stray Cats guitarist and front man. (I'm on a work computer at the moment, I'll get a you tube video up when I get home)

So I'm wondering, what songs have you ever heard and though "Wow, this song is talking about me"?

    *cough*

I will add that I do like putting my iPod on random/shuffle to see what comes up and there will be certain songs at times that I can totally relate to at that point in time. Recently Kaskade's "Your Love is Black" is on repeat.

  • I didn't remember the old thread on this, so I was trying to come up with an answer. I just checked the old thread, and apparently I came up with the same answer now as I did then, without remembering. Therefore, it must be the right answer.

    Machinae Supremacy melts your face.
  • Unfortunately more or less this:
  • I Just Wanna See by Smash Mouth comes to mind:

Or Old School Rules by Danger Doom and Talib Kweli:

I'm not sure what that song has to do with Naruto, but there you go.

You listen to DOOM? Awesome. You should listen to MF DOOM's solo stuff too. Take Me To Your Leader, MM.. FOOD?, and Vaudevilla Villain rock. Madvillainy, his collaboration with Madlib, is my favorite hip hop album ever.

    Ignore the videos.

The Mouse and the Mask is the only DOOM album I've got, but I freakin' love it and definitely plan on getting more. I love Danger Mouse and Talib Kweli too, so in my opinion there's really no way that song could be better.

Well, unless DOOM, Kweli, Del The Funky Homosapien, and Dan The Automator formed a group and then made that song. Then it might be better.

MF DOOM is my favorite rapper ever, and although Danger is fantastic, Madlib makes much better beats in my opinion. They're jazzier.

  • Oh wait, you guys aren't talking about the Doom I thought you were talking about. The Doom I'm thinking of does have some fucking awesome music, though.

The Japanese metal band? I'll download one of their albums if you download an MF DOOM album. I suggest Take Me To Your Leader released under his pseudonym King Geedorah. It's full of references/samples to/from old Toho sci-fi movies.

I really like it when a faster sort of jazz is used in a beat. For example, If the Cowboy Bebop theme was used in a rap song I would be all over it. However, judging from those videos, Madlib's beats are a little too mellow for me to really get into.

Urgh, why does every music thread need to be plagued with youtube embeds? Seriously, if I care enough about whatever you posted, believe me, I'll just search youtube myself.

Use flashblock, like everyone else. Also, if someone makes a youtube of audio, we wouldn't need the boxes to be so big. Actually I don't know why youtube doesn't add audio-only mode. There's clearly a demand.
  • Also, if someone makes a youtube of audio
    iMeem?

Fails. You have to create an account to listen to/embed a song.

There are quite a few songs you don't have to log in to listen to the full song for now.

I love this song and am very flattered by it, and people often think the opposite of that for some odd reason.

My current theme song comes from Drill Dozer, which is, indisputably, the height of drill based entertainment.

  • Currently it seems to be something very recent which sounds almost like an anthem -
Street Sweeper Social Club - 100 Little Curses

Long term it has been these two -
Rage Against the Machine's - Down Rodeo
    Jay-Z - 99 Problems
Here is an awesome mock up if you watch the above video to compare Cookie Monster's 99 Problems
