Direct X crash

I was doing video editing and then - BAM! Direct X crashed. I updated my NVIDIA driver, reinstalled DX9.0c (Aug. release for XP) and restarted -- the system doesn't even register it as being there. The device manager doesn't show there being any conflict with my 3d card, and everything else seems to be working properly.

I just have no Direct X acceleration. Any ideas?

What happens when you run dxdiag from the command line?

I just figured it out. Somehow DirectDraw was disabled, which gave my compy the mad sickness. I enabled it and everything is fine.

I guess it was much simpler than I was making it.
