I use iTunes because it works with my iPod. That and so I have my music and podcasts all in one place. Though I do wish I didn't have to sync it into my computer to download them.

Do you want impartial downloads? That's why.
Impartial downloads? What the fuck are you talking about? As if somehow the downloads will be biased? Oh noes, my downloads are Republican!
Anyone tried songbird? I have heard mixed things about it and it does what I am looking for.
The Podcatching on the songbird is pretty sub par, but I do use the GReader for most of my text, audio and Video RSS aggregation. For the most part, I used to use Itunes because nothing else really worked for me, but with my recent PSP + IPod Touch purchase I've been moving away from Itunes and using RockBox for my 5th-gen Ipod and for my laptop or IPod Touch I just download it on the touch with the MobileCast app and GReader for the PC.
Holy crap, I'm not alone! Yay for RockBox. Though I have now moved all my feeds to Bashpodder. I think spaces now finally work properly in folder names.
Sometimes when I use iTunes, a podcast will not download completely. It will tell me that said podcast is 100% complete, and when I listen it stops in mid-sentence. This usually happened when I downloaded the Penny Arcade podcast, so I figured it was something on their end that was messing things up; but then it happened a few times to GeekNights. Usually re-downloading the podcast is the fix, but it is a pain.

This is a problem with you. I do not have this problem.

Maybe I should see a doctor about it then... : p
It's not a very frequent problem. I'm guessing it could be a connection problem as Tyashki said, although it would usually tell me if the download was interrupted. Next time it happens, I'll try reinstalling or updating iTunes.
Yup. First gen nano is the best, at least, from the first 3 generations. Fourth is hot. It however does not have your much lauded feature of listening to a podcast on your computer, syncing it and continuing it where you left off on the iPod. That's the downside of drag-n-drop instead of syncing.
EDIT: If I remember correctly, Apple started encrypting the firmware on the iPod from the second nano generation onward (on all iPods of course).
If you want a sweet MP3 player that also has a really good user program, and you don'twant to be a slave to Apple, go with a Zune. I love my Zune. It's got great video, on it it recently got games, on it and it comes in an 80 GB version. (I got the 30, which I don't think they make anymore).
(i got the 30 that u dont think they make anymore)
That I think that isn't made anymore? Oh dear, and you don't have to call me 'u', I'm not that old. Also, how would buying an iPod make you a slave of mac? Macs are only the personal computers made by Apple. You don't need one to use an iPod.
(also, a little secret, 'I' is spelled with a capital letter.)

You are the best troll ever. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy you showing people what's what. Seriously, this isn't sarcasm. I know it's hard to tell on the internet.
I use media monkey, unfortunately it's windows only, but does everything that itunes does and will automatically sync with my portable devices when I connect them. You can define the profile of each device separately which I like, since I have a separate player for taking to the gym than the one I take to work and like to listen to different types of music on each.
