Linux Headset recommendations

edited October 2008 in Everything Else
So, I'm looking for a good headset (possibly attached to a sound card) that will work well under Linux. I've currently got something which works with my motherboard sound under Windows, but I haven't managed to get it working on Ubuntu. The military industrial complex has recently been so good as to hire me to work on radars for them, so I have money and I'm willing to spend it if its going to be worth it. If any of you have setups that you're happy with that Just Work under Ubuntu I'd really be happy to hear about it.

  • If it's an analog headset, any of them will work as long as your sound card works. Though, it sounds like your sound card does not work in Linux, which is a problem. You can go out and get a sound card that works, but that's a pain. A much easier solution is to get a USB headset. You will be hard pressed to find a USB headset that won't work.
  • Do a search in synaptic for "Pulseaudio" and install "pavucontrol" then go poking around in there and you might find something that will help you.
  • Do a search in synaptic for "Pulseaudio" and remove "Pulseaudio"
Fixed it for you. Seriously though, pulseaudio fucking sucks.

Not after what I've been through trying to get an external sound card to work with Alsa. Hardware support is better with Pulse but I know what you mean.
