Apparently, Google still has the database from 2001, so in honor of their tenth anniversary, they put together a page that looks like their old front page for you to search it with. It's kinda fun to put in weird things and mess around with it.

Predictably, searching for "anime" in the year 2001 brings up the Anime Web Turnpike as the first result. I used to go there all the time, until Google made going there pretty much useless. Funny how that happens.

EDIT: Well I'll be damned, the AniPike still shows up on the first page of current Google search results. Not the top result, obviously, but still there. I didn't realize they were still alive, let alone still relatively popular. o.o

I remember the anime web turnpike. It showed up for almost any anime search, but it was mostly useless to me. Hooray for Wikipedia, ANN Encyclopedia, and Google.
