Best of GeekNights Project Thread

edited October 2008 in GeekNights
Hey all! So I've been itching to make a sequel to my previous project, WPTR&SAG:TM-SAOEFTHOS, but I know I probably won't find enough gay bits that are as funny or funnier than the ones in the first project. So I thought that instead of making a straight-up sequel, it might be fun to start a new project: a Best of GeekNights compilation. The best leader bits, the best anecdotes, the best tangents, the best one-liners, the best news...es, the best Thing of the Day descriptions, the best anything. This will probably be end up being a considerably longer project, because some of the best bits of GeekNights are quite long-winded (some anecdotes being 10-15 minutes). I'm thinking it'll end up being an hour or so, possibly more.

It would be great if I could get the help of FRC forum members on this one, as that'll help the project move along faster. Also, I just like the idea of finding out what everyone's favourite GN bits are so that I can try to include them in the final project. If you would like to contribute a potential bit, fill out the following short form and post it to this thread.

Time Code:

Bits are encouraged to be under 10 minutes, but I'll set the absolute maximum at 15 minutes. There's no minimum, so feel free to suggest a clip that's only a few seconds long, too. ;) I'll be keeping a list here of the potential bits so that we don't get double submissions happening.

Whee, fun times ahead! ^^

  • I've been hitting the archives again, so if I find something special, I'll post the requisite info here.
  • Masturbation episode. All of it.
  • I'll try and find good one on my daily Geeknights listening.

    Episode Title: Fire: Pt. 1
    Time Code: 36:15
Rym: "Like moth... TO THE FLAME!"
    Scott: "Whoa..."

    "Suffice to say"

    "Warm today."
    "Warm yesterday."
    "Even warmer today."
  • I will also try to help out. On occasion, I listen to some of the archives to help break the monotony of listening to music during my work day. Plus there are some episodes I want my boyfriend to listen to.
  • When I get to my mom's I will go through my GeekNights collection. I would loooove to help!
  • The irony is that I was thinking of doing the exact same thing for Dave and Joel, but soon realized that it would be most of the entire show and maybe cut out parts here and there.

Someone should make a iPhone/touch app that will make this process less of a pain since there has to be at least 1000 hours of GeekNights.

Okay, so are those lines the only ones you want in the clip, or did you want the context around them, too? It's hard to tell, since the time code you gave only shows where the clip ends and not where it begins.

Also, I will definitely be looking for instances of Scrym's various catchphrases, and will probably select the best one(s) when the final product comes together.
  • I don't care, I just listened to that one recently and thought it was a funny line.
  • Just an idea I'm throwing out: Maybe you could gather up some of the times that rym says "suffice to say" and play all those clips in a row. It wouldn't last more than 10 seconds, but you could do it with other phrases as well.
  • I agree on the "suffice to say" montage, and also offer this one: Scott tends to say "right" often, so a montage of all his "rights" could be fairly entertaining. It wouldn't be too hard to compile, either.

Also - and I can't check right now because I am not on my home computer - but I recall a bit in the How To Not Suck at YouTube episode that involved clowns on an airplane and the classic circusy music that I thought was fairly funny. If someone could figure out the exact times for that, it could be a nice addition.
  • Good idea on the montage thing. I'll see if I can get that going. :)

And Diddgery, I'll listen to that episode again when I have time and see if I can find it.
