  • On that subject, people should know about this site

    https://www.optoutprescreen.com/

I used to get all these letters in the mail trying to offer me student loan consolidation and other crap. I went to this site and opted out, now I don't get anything. I was originally hesitant that the site might be shady / illegitimate. But I figured what the heck, and went for it. It worked, so it's all good. I think they just need to do a better job of making the site appear legitimate and not a phishing scam.

I have to admit, that is one of the dodgiest-looking non-scam sites I've seen.

I know, right? Still, it works, as is evidenced by the complete lack of student loan consolidation junk mail I am receiving. I mean, the site was created by the credit bureaus, so it's no surprise that it is scam-tastic looking.
