But you need to be able to change the parameters that block him, because goodness knows how often "nickname change" has changed his name. I guess from now on he'll be referred to as Nineless, because that's how he refers to himself when he speaks in 3rd person.

I put Windows 7 on the laptop, just to test it out. So far, I'm thinking Ubuntu is a better laptop choice, even if Windows 7 were not beta. So far the only good thing seems to be that Windows 7 reports that my batteries have over 9 hours of battery life. Ubuntu only ever reported that they had maybe 4. However, the way Ubuntu figures out battery life, I think it greatly underestimated reality. I also think that Windows 7 is overestimating, even if it is more efficient with energy usage.
My main issue really isn't Windows 7 specific, its with all Windows on the laptop. When I use a laptop, I want to use the mouse as little as possible. More keyboard is more better. Even with something like Launchy installed, Windows just requires too much mousing. This is a problem on a laptop. A touchpad is fine, but not if I have to use it so much. In Ubuntu I hardly have to use it, so it is much more comfortable. Comfort is key with portability.

I hate touchpads or external mouses when I'm on the move because it's really a pain to more your hands away from the keyboard all the time to do some mousing and then move them back to do typing. A laptop with a stick in they keyboard has been my choice for many years and while it's not as good as having proper keyboard shortcuts in OS and apps it's still better that a touchpad.
You can simply make a live account that uses your gmail. Big deal.
I know, I complained about needing a fucking Live account. I've already set my gmail up ages ago. It's utter crap. Microsoft Live just does not play nice with any email address that is not an hotmail address. Here, let me show you the bullshit:
Change your e-mail address Someone else has confirmed ownership of the e-mail address. To continue using this account, you must change the sign-in e-mail address.
WHAT THE FUCK. It is my email address, it's the email address I fucking used to tie my gmail to a live account, and now they are complaining that I'm not myself? I just fucking signed in with the credentials of that live account! Microsoft's Live is a fucking failure, and it's sickening that they still use it to this day!

Obviously the problem is that you already have an account. That other person is you. Instead of trying to sign up for a new account, try recovering the password on your existing one.

Yes, I already have an account, I didn't go to sign up for a new account, I went to log in with the existing account. I used the proper credentials, else I would've gotten an error, yet it complains. I have never seen anything related to Windows Live work properly.

You're the only one. Therefore, the problem is you.
Congratulations, you and everyone you know are idiots compared to me and everyone I know.
Because having something that you don't have any control over fail makes you an idiot. It's also of great use to draw conclusions after only hearing about a single problem with the service when the list goes on.

Your the one with the problem. Everything is just fine here. The service is exactly the same for you as it is for me. Therefore, the only logical conclusion is that you fucked up.

Maybe you're just lucky and it only works for you and your friends.
I just switched my laptop back from Windows 7 to Ubuntu.
Ubuntu is just so much faster, it isn't even funny. I'll probably upgrade my Vista desktop to Windows 7 when the time comes, but Windows is just no good on a laptop.
