Well, Walt Disney was quite an avid sailor, as is Roy Disney. Roy Disney donates a lot to youth sailing programs, including the high school sailing program here in southern California that I participated in. He also sponsored a documentary recently called Morning Light, which is a pretty decent movie that I recommend watching if you want an introduction to what big-time sailing is like. In fact, most famous sailors have all had to do with that race, the Transpac, or the America's Cup which is the oldest organized sports cup in the world. When you were sailing did you learn about the Cunningham, or the downhaul? That piece of technology was introduced by a guy who used it to get an edge in the America's Cup and is now something that virtually every sailing vessel has today. Other than that, famous sailors are explorers like Darwin and Megellan. I hope this somewhat answers your question to an extent.
You know, I didn't even like the video that much. It was just too appropriate.
I hate the video.Me and my brother My brother and I like the song for ironic reasons. It was funny because of its appropriateness, like you said. Edit: Fail count is up to...I stopped counting a while ago...
Does Darwin count as a sailor? I never got the impression that he sailed, so much as went places on a boat.
There was a big section on maritime work in my marine bio text book two years ago. If I remember correctly, he was a the prime navigator and map maker on the Beagle, which is as much sailing as anything in those days. The Beagle was also a pretty revolutionary vessel that took a pretty expansive trip. Even if I'm wrong and Darwin didn't have anything to do with the ship's navigation, the vessel and the voyage itself are pretty important to the history of sailing.

That certainly sounds like sailing to me. I didn't realize he did that stuff -- I thought he was just there as a naturalist. Darwin's even more awesome than I thought.
Let's just say the boat may or may not look like the King of Red Lions.
If it does, we are having a cosplay boat party. Li_Akahi's set, we just have to find costumes for the rest of us. I could do Toon Link. His outfit is pretty different from regular Link.
Actually if film isn't my bag, bartending is my second choice since mixology has fascinated me since I was 16 when I watched a bartender make a drink, a complex one mind you, and being a geek I'm into mixtures to evoke awesome things like a Harvey Wallbanger or a French 75. Granted I've never drank any of those, but I probably will taste them when I turn 21. Sailing is my 3rd choice in a job, notice how derelict and more vagabond-ish the jobs get as they go lower.
Okay guys, it wasn't a boat as you see it. It was more like this. No need to quote images here.
Sunfish are some of the easiest boats to sail and also some of the most fun. Don't be under the illusion that sailing a bigger boat is like sailing a sunfish. Even the addition of a single sail (or even a jib) can make things more complicated. However, if you enjoyed sailing it, you will probably enjoy sailing larger boats.
I taught sailing for two years. Sunfish are still my favorite boats to sail, because their small size makes them highly maneuverable. Also, they are some of the only boats you can successfully capsize and return to upright by yourself.
Related: "How to get a Free Yacht" Instructable. Always been more of a canoe/kayak man myself, but sailing has recently started to pique my interest. On that note, a related Analect I read today for my Masterpieces of East Asian Lit class:
The Master said, "The wise find pleasure in water; the virtuous find pleasure in hills. The wise are active; the virtuous are tranquil. The wise are joyful; the virtuous are long-lived."
I got my Senior pictures taken, and they all look amazing. I probably won't be able to afford the proof book, but my mom and I will pick out some great ones next week.

Sunfish are fun for messing around, I guess, but just about everything about them bothers me. The weird, pseudo-gaff rig and lack of boom vang makes the sail load up really heavily by the leech, making them very prone to capsizing. Most boats in that size class like Lasers at least have control lines.
My Aunt's boyfriend, who is a major foodie and a weekend chef, had a horrible nightmare that he was outside Papa John's telling people not to eat there, and so they kidnapped him and held him hostage...and MADE HIM EAT THEIR PIZZA! That kind of shows you his general opinion of them.

That's a bit much. Of the chains it's my favorite, but it was free pizza for camaro owners so it's hard to pass that up. It was actually better than I expected, and as it's down the street from where I live, might get a pizza there more often. Normally I go to a little independent place 15 minutes away in Vienna. Great on weekends, but on a week night the traffic is a bear.

@Funfetus-Thank you, that has made me happy.

Going to spend the evening pressing on with my comic website idea.
Also, possibly drawing witches.. No touching, Churba.
