I just stumbled across this moral politics test which looks very interesting and also gives good descriptions about your ideology and what political ideology it aligns with without restricting itself to a simple "left-right" alignment.

    Yet, again this is one of those tests that is far too limiting with its multiple-choice ness. For every single question, my answer was not represented by any of the available choices. Even the option of "none of the above" didn't match.

    That's exactly the problem. None of them were even close to a fit. Maybe if they changed them from radio buttons to check boxes, I would have been able to answer a few, but still.

    This feels very subjective in terms of how the questions are phrased. I don't know if that's the point, but I find it very hard to answer something that I believe is right, and then have the test think that it's something else. Also, I don't think my beliefs can be fit so neatly like this test thinks it can.

    I'm on the sixth question about lifestyles, and I really don't know what would be the right answer in the test creator's eye. What does it mean by non-traditional? That doesn't really exist in my mind unless it's something wild and wacky. Having a computer deal with subjective beliefs is not the best way to do this.

    Edit: Oh great, now I'm on the eighth question. What fail is this?

    I don't know what party I belong to, nor what system or ideology. I like it that way. Less Democrats vs. Conservatives and more debating of social and ethical issues.
    It's a good way to be. Labels like Democrat and Republican largely serve to falsely associated issue stances with one another. Avoiding those false assumptions of issue association is mandatory if you want to freely develop your own world view.

    Occasionally there are some issues stances that are hypocritical to hold when in combination, and thus seemingly unrelated issues are sometimes correctly grouped together. Though, the false associations appear far more common.

    For example, what is hypocritical about supporting universal health care, but also being against gun control? These are two issues, and thus, there are four possible positions one could take: YY,YN,NY,NN. Democrats stand for YN and Republicans are NY. There are two major effects of this. The first is that people who are YY or NN are disenfranchised. They have nobody to vote for, and can not get accurate representation in government. The other effect is that many people who would be YY or NN instead become YN or NY. Their mind creates false associations between the issues under the label of the blue or the red. Thus, if they feel they are democrats, they will become YN, whereas they may have been NN if that association did not influence their pattern of thought.

    I don't think this is right:
    It's not. It's very wrong. If you answer the questions casually and as honestly as possible, you will not get the correct result. However, by examining the test from a meta-perspective, you can easily dissect how it works, and customize your choices to get whatever result you desire.

    It's just a fun little quiz that we can laugh at. I know this test didn't change me in anyway (it shouldn't anyway), and I'm taking the results with a rather large amount of salt.
