My experience with needles has been that the more pricks you get, the less you mind them. Just look away and think of England.
This Made me Rofl because I'm a horrible person.
It's all good; you're the resident lovable scoundrel.

I'm a little squeamish around needles. In that perspective, how bad is the needle that gives the vaccine?
Don't be a sissy. Just do it.
I am going to parrot Scott, but I am afraid of needles, too. Actually, you can make me woozy by rubbing alcohol on my arm and needles have made me pass out. Trust me when I say that I would rather get a poke in the arm than days of fever. Just look away and you will be fine.

Sounds like this problem solves the first.
  • The last time I skipped a vaccine due to a fear of needles, I was hospitalized almost a decade later. Now, I don't fear needles, and I'm borderline eager to get shots and bloodwork done, mainly because my general mindset now is that if a shot can prevent something like what happened last time, I'm all too happy to be a human pincushion.

Get your shots indeed. I parrot the 'fear for needles' although slightly, but I'll justify it by saying I have had my "OH GOD LARGE RAT WITH FUCKING HUGE NEEDLE INJECTING US ALL!"-nightmare as a child. I once had to get my blood taken, 3 vails or so. So the nurse stabs me, and I watch, and see my blood GUSHING RAPIDLY INTO THE VAIL! And I'm like "OH WOW!", then the vail gets replaced and the same fountain of blood spewing into the vail. At this point I'm all "this is fucking awesome!". Third vail, done, blablabla. I go home, I come home, and I think I then went to sleep for a few hours, tripping on blood loss.

So yeah, I'm going to say, you may be fearful of needles, but get them. And then bask in the enjoyment of getting stabbed. It's a good stab!
  • Also, if you're going to get any flu shot, try to get it on a Friday. You may experience some or all of the symptoms of the flu for a day or two after the shot and it sucks having to go to work / school with a headache and feeling sore all over.
  • My pregnant wife got her H1N1 shot last week. There were no people waiting in line for the free vaccine from the public health district. Total time in and out: 10 minutes. There have been no symptoms. I am opting not to get the shot because I'm not in an at-risk group.
  • I don't get the fear of needles thing at all, but keep in mind that you may not even need the H1N1 shot at all. As an RIT student, I got my vaccine for free and they gave me the nasal spray vaccination. Youngish healthy people with no history of asthma generally qualify for the nasal spray. The hardest part is not being allowed to blow your nose for 30 minutes after. I had no side effects.

Don't be a dumbass. Get vaccinated.
  • Don't be a dumbass. Get vaccinated.
Don't be a twot, get the shot.
  • I hate nasal sprays with a deadly passion. I would much rather have someone stick a needle in me and be sore for a few days. I also sneeze a whole lot, so the whole not blowing your nose thing is practically impossible in my case. I also have asthma, so that's probably a moot point for me anyway.

I lol'd. I think I remember you telling that dream story before.

If you don't look at it and don't have a freakish experience like Nine did, it's just like getting pinched really hard in the arm. Seriously, don't be a pussy.

Natalie is vaccinated but I'm not. If it doesn't cost much to get it done, I think I'm gonna try and go for it soon.

Translation: Get the shot on Sunday. Hope you experience the flu symptoms for a day or three, so you can call in sick and play video games all day.

I didn't know it was possible to double-post on a Vanilla forum, considering the button locks up after you press it.

The way to do it is to post but for some reason not realise your post went through, forcing you to go back to repost it (though perhaps this happens automatically rather than manually in some way).

I suppose the one to figure how to work around the forum software WOULD end up being the guy who installed it ^_~

  • Or have things randomly screw up because the Internet at work went out.

  • So I just got the vaccine today. I walk into my office and inform my office mate of this and she says, "does that mean you're gonna get the flu now?"
