GameFAQs poll

I know that GameFAQs is not exactly a fortress of intellectual discourse upon games or otherwise but I often find their polls rather interesting.

This one is certainly no exception.

I'm quite interested what the landscape will look like in exactly one year. I see polls like this and hear the net savvy folks railing against the juggernaut but then people at work are already talking about pre-orders. It certainly won't fail but they absolutely have lost almost all credibility with the geeky community at large.

Seems to me like the PS3 will not sell well for the first couple months, but around the one year mark, say around the time Metal Gear Solid 4 ships, it'll start selling really well. By then though there will probably be a price drop.

Don't count on it. Sony has been rather persistant when it comes to Playstation price drops...

I think the whole thing will be a grand cock-up of a disaster, just like most console launches, and the stupid thing will still sell in the jillions and be wildly successful. If the PS3 turns out to be a failure, it won't be apparant for a couple of years.
