As the person who wrote the be nice to the newbies thread, you don't have to be nice to this guy anymore, he was handled well by the regulars and whatever his fate now he deserves it. Now since he was from England (from his E-mail address) when he said we were a bunch of fags was he talking about cigs?
Actually he sounded pretty drunk (and if he is from England wouldn't it be late?)

Not necessarily - Most young people I've met over here mostly use "cig" or "smoke" rather than "fag", and they are not unfamiliar, indeed, far from, using "Fag" to refer to homosexuals.
Also, when he made the initial post, it would have been about 9 PM or so by my time, which isn't terribly late. Last post was about 11 Pm, England time. For some reason, I'm thinking he's from the south, probably London, particularly somewhere in Saaaarf london, ie, Mitcham sort of area. I don't know why I think this.
spelling dont matter aslong as you can understand it dont matter
The issue is that many of your posts are difficult to comprehend. Capitalization and punctuation serve to point out the beginning or end of a thought, pauses within that thought, and points where the subject of the thought changes. You use punctuation and capitalization partly to control the flow of information to the reader, so that they may parse your thoughts in the manner in which you wish to convey them.
Use proper grammar and spelling, and you'll find that people will listen to your points and take you seriously in a discussion. Well, OK, we may lambast you for holding certain views, but we'll at least treat with a modicum of respect if they're conveyed in an otherwise intelligent manner.

Don't try it Pete, it isn't worth it. I PM'd him and he didn't listen nor did he (apparently) understand my advice. It's just a person who doesn't want to change his grammar even if we ask him to. It's odd though, he kinda blurs the line a little bit.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you people of the relatively new rule to the forum. If you are not a moderator, it is not your job to enforce the rules of the forum. If there is someone breaking the rules, just ignore them, and they will be dealt with. All of you here are just as guilty of breaking the rules as maxhaworth.
EDIT - nevermind - I fail at reading I thought the "don't try to be a moderator if you're not" rule wasn't in the sticky and was going to suggest it be thrown in there, but technically it's there. It's in the "specific guidelines", if you read between the lines.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see that rule anywhere amongst the rules. See:
Forum Rules The Front Row Crew/GeekNights forums are a little different from other online communities, in that they will never be allowed to descend to the depths so common on "teh internets." The rules are simple:
Be mindful of your grammar and spelling.Post intelligentlyDon't be annoying. Failure to abide by these rules will result in warnings and an eventual banning.
If you want to enforce that rule, wouldn't it be nice to write it down in the rules forum as to inform new members of said rule? Also, how is anyone breaking rules? We're just posting comments and some images, isn't that the purpose of a forum? It's not like we've never gone off topic in a thread before. Not to mention, your moderator(s) didn't object the comments that were made and instead just made similar posts.
Bottom line: Unwritten rules are not rules, they're guidelines at most.

It's a "specific guideline" rather than a rule, and I don't know how long it has been around, but:
* If a thread already exists for a particular topic, post there rather than making a new thread. * Unless it is relevant to your argument, don't admonish other forum members about their grammar or spelling: our moderators will handle that. * Don't post unless you have something to contribute. Otherwise empty "QFT" posts are considered annoying (see above). * You have the ability to change your forum name and avatar at will. Do not abuse this power.
All of you here are just as guilty of breaking the rules as maxhaworth.
A few of us made an effort to be reasonable, you'll note.
I would like to take issue with your wording here, Scott:
If you are not a moderator, it is not your job to enforce the rules of the forum.
How is any one but a moderator capable of "enforcing" rules in the first place? You need to be more clear. Are we allowed to mention the fact that the rules even exist? Point out when they have been broken? From what I can tell, I'm led to believe that we're supposed to follow the rules but never speak a word about them. You might as well put in Rule #1 - don't mention the rules.
Bottom line: Unwritten rules are not rules, they're guidelines at most.
It's a written rule in some other thread I forget. I just neglected to put it in the actual rules thread, which is my bad. I will correct that ASAP.

If you want to discuss the rules themselves, you can do that in a rules thread in the proper category. In normal threads, if you are not a moderator, do not tell people whether they are breaking the rules or not.
how will i get banded it dosent say any were about my spelling or grammer it say be mindfull not 100%
Indeed, the rules do not say that you have to have 100% perfect spelling and grammar. Nobody has 100%, not even me. The problem is that you are not even close to 100%. You are hovering around 1%, which is not acceptable. I will ban you very soon if you don't at least start using proper capitalization, spelling, and some semblance of punctuation.
but why should you have to put caps in it dont make any difference
I believe this was already explained to you, but as the moderator I will explain it to you once more.
This is a forum for intelligent discussion only. By forcing posters to have proper grammar and spelling, it is a way to figure out who is intelligent and who is not. If you are not capable of writing with proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation, then either English is not your first language (which is fine), or you are not the kind of person we want in this forum.
Also, even smart people sometimes make stupid posts. In fact, they usually make stupid posts. By requiring people to write more formally, people are forced to proof-read their posts, perhaps multiple times. Because proof-reading requires such time and effort, people will not make trivial posts, because it isn't worth the effort. People will only post things that are worth saying, and that they have put a lot of time and thought into.
Lastly, it doesn't matter why this forum's rules are the way they are. The fact is that those are the rules. Even if you disagree with them, they aren't going to change. You have three choices.
1) You can continue to post here with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. 2) You can leave. 3) You can continue to post improper English, and you will be banned.
So getting back to the steam thing i was on about. and you guys said too use IDshare i can work it but how do i put on name on???
This looks like a genuine effort to me. Adding your own personal IDShare data is done via Personal Information, under Account Options. Here's a direct link. Others' IDShare data is accessible here.

You probably should read the rules, you.

You'll get banned if you keep that up, you know.
