Veronica Mars

edited November 2009 in Everything Else
Anyone seen it? I've been watching it over the past week and am absolutely loving it. For those of you who haven't seen it, it's sort of a combination of CSI and Beverly Hills 90210, except really well done and intelligent and has a very well-written and planned out over-arching story. I would highly suggest that everyone watch it.

  • I never watched it, but Joss Whedon said it was his favorite show, and that's pretty high praise.
  • I've watched all of it except the last two eps. It was an extremely good teen detective series with clever writing. It's a shame it struggled to find rating as most good shows do and eventually died off. I highly recommend watching the first season.
  • One of our friends told us the show failed to have good ratings because the main character wasn't popular enough. Honestly, I think Veronica's snarkyness is far more interesting/entertaining then "ohhay u guiz, look, i'm the new head cheerleader lolololololol!!!!1!" Actually, I find almost all the main characters to be endearing in some way or another (Veronica aside, there's Wallace and Weevil and I adore both of them completely). Another incident where the relative few have better taste than the relative masses. Also, while this may not explain why the show flopped rating-wise, there are some of us who had no clue the show existed until it was already canceled. Li and I both fit this type. My roommate had me watch it with her via torrents about a year ago, I've loved it ever since (despite not even finishing the first season).
  • I watched an episode of it and the lead actress was so weak in the role that all of the great writing and decent production value just fell flat.

    Didn't notice that at all.

    But... but she's hot.

    But... but she'shot.
Really? You thought so? She certainly wasn't ugly, but she has that tiny, weird face.

She's one of the most attractive women I've ever seen.

Just different tastes, I guess. She reminds me of a bird, but not in a flattering way.
Maybe I could see it if she was at all interesting on screen.

I agree with you Kate. I haven't seen the show, and I really don't care to. I do know she was electricity evil girl in Heroes, and I didn't like her character/acting there.

You guys really suck, the show is really freaking good. You have to get beyond the "Oh it's a bunch of attractive kids solving crime" It has a good plot damn it.
  • Did you read my original statement? I said that her lack of skill as an actress made all that was good about the show fall flat. This has nothing to do with her, or the rest of the cast, being good looking. A plot can be great, but if it is poorly executed in another aspect then it is almost moot.
  • A friend of mine was obsessed with the show (both for the show and for Kirsten Bell), I thought that it was alright. It definitely did die down after the first season.
