I still love Robot Chicken since day one. Even if there's a bad sketch in an episode or two there's always a few great ones in each episode. That and Venture Bros., Metalocaylspe, and Morel Orel are the only things I like nowadays. I did love ATHF until it's 3rd season and loved Sealab until it's last season. Harvey Birdman is the only one that stayed awesome without bumps in my opinion.
The worst I think is 12oz Mouse, Xavier, The Brak Show and of course what this thread is about.
When I interviewed to work at Adult Swim, we talked about all kinds of things, including how I liked some of the shows. They all agreed with me that this show is the worst.
What shows did they say were the best? Just curious.
Venture Bros. is pretty much the only thing on adult swim I watch, but I'm not good at keeping up with it. At least the website has episodes.
Adult Swim shows are usuallysupposedto be painful.
It's been said before, but a lot of these shows are meant to be watched whilst intoxicated or sleep-deprived. I remember being super psyched to rent Space Ghost on DVD only to find that it wasn't funny at all.
Harvey Birdman, on the other hand, has been wonderful to me.
Harvey Birdman is far by the best show they have and now I need a birdman fix. I remember seeing it when they first brought it out. A cartoon about lawyers.. Really?
But those are the times you should watch it. That's when I always watched it, at, like, one in the morning in hotel rooms while I was on vacation with my parents. We laughed and laughed, because we were so tired and punchy, and it was so stupid. I really love Space Ghost.
I'm a knife, knifin' around...cutcutcutcutcutcut.
ATHF, Metalocalypse, and the Venture Brothers
OK, you successfully named 3. Actually, I don't consider ATHF watchable past the second season, but I agree about Metalocalypse and Venture Bros. AS has however produced such gems as Squidbillies and Tom Goes to the Mayor.
Squidbillies is pretty damn good, but the golden one for me that will always remain in my heart is Tom Goes to the Mayor. I frickin' loved that show to death! But then stupid Tim & Eric replaced it.
@Everyone: What about Morel Orel, is that another one to add to the bad list.
I just remembered that Home Movies was on Adult Swim. The fact that the same guy created both Metalocalypse and Home Movies just blows my mind. They're so different, but so good in their own ways.
I didn't particularly care for it that much, but I can appreciate the effort and fanbase that has evolved from it. Am I the only one who thinks it is a mature version of Davey and Goliath?

I'm pretty sure Moral Orel was meant to be a direct parody of that show, yes.

Okay good, because I've seen and talked to die-hard fans who have no idea this was the case. I'm pretty sure they didn't know what Davey and Goliath was.

That knowledge is also scary to me. And I don't even like Home Movies. (I liked it around Season 3-4)

It was a direct parody for the first two seasons, then the third one got into some really deep stuff. Origin stories and darkness around, but a very heartwarming finale.
Why make crap shows that are only good when a person is drunk/tired? Why not make a decent show that can be enjoyed in any state?
Maybe some people (such as myself) like to watch during any occasion. I think Emily's point was sound, but I guess that puts me in a minority now wouldn't it? Other than the main featured series, Adult Swim is a channel of experimentation, and there are some shows that hit (Venture Brothers, Metalocalpyse, Tom Goes to the Mayor, etc) and some shows that miss (Superjail, Tim and Eric, Harvey Birdman, etc).
This. Adult Swim is the only place where you can find the sorts of shows they have, and they give writers a chance to try something new that might not fly on a major network.

I'm all for experimentation and trying new things. When you try it and it is crap, why not move on to something better? They must be getting ratings that are high enough to support their ad time. I just can't see any redeeming factor in most of their shows.
I really enjoy Frisky Dingo, Metalocalypse, the Venture Brothers, Harvey Birdman, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but if I see Robot Chicken or Titan Maximum are on, I will more than likely watch them. I don't seek them out, though.
Oh, and someone mentioned Archer earlier in the thread; I have seen the preview episode that FX showed, and it is absolutely hilarious.
I'm with Kate. With a couple of exceptions, it's just the same repetitive, unfunny, immature bullshit. The "adult" seems to have been removed from "Adult Swim" and replaced with "drunk college kid".
WOW, Niche shows are NICHE, Notice how everyone here likes one or more shows but hates the others, funny how NICHE shows can be successful late at night. Not everyshow is supposed to appeal to you and it is in fact better that way (then milk toast crap).
[adult swim] has produced and aired some of my most and least favorite shows. I appreciate them doing something different and taking risks, but they need to seriously back off heavy the cocaine usage.

Painfull is a correct term for most of their programming Metalocalypse, and some ventrue bros at times can be very good.

The best part of Home Movies.

And I love it.
