Ok, how is it related to the post you quoted from. I said nothing about people not feeling bad in any way. I was simply noting that an important life lesson is that people justify actions they may perceive themselves to be wrong.
Name for me a single person who does bad things, believes the things they do are bad, does them anyway, doesn't feel bad about it at all, and isn't crazy or otherwise insane.
Everyone either thinks their right, or is crazy/greedy/doesn't care, or both.
I suspect that everyone finds a way to justify their actions to themselves. Even if everyone around them can see that it's just greed, they think it's because the world owes it to them because they grew up hard or something.
I personally like the worlds as characters sort of stories, both in the novelty of them and that sort of struggle against an unbeatable force. Also this from Dresden Codak:
