Wear your Geek on your Sleeve

edited September 2006 in Everything Else
This is just a little market research for me, and maybe some perks for you guys too.

What kinds of slogans, pictures, symbols, etc. would you like to have on a T-shirt, bumper sticker, iron-on patch, bracelet, jewelry, or whatever? I'm not asking for your favorite thing that you've seen, but rather something you haven't seen that you'd like. I'm starting to branch out from just using Dice for jewelry, and I want to know what geeks want! If you give me a suggestion that I can use, I'll give you the first one I make for the cost of materials.

Of course, if you have ideas for more things I can make with dice, I'll take those too. ^_~

  • T shirt :

"There Is no IRL, only AFK"
  • I've always wanted a pair of d20 cufflinks.

I would so buy that shirt.
  • My local student group makes these Tshirts with the greek letters Psi and Phi on them - I like them and in point of fact I'm wearing one right now. They're really a local thing though (and we're all out of Ms now anyways) so there's nothing to prevent you from making and selling your own wherever you are.

    Random Ideas:
"Don't let SEELE Immanentize the Eschaton!"
"My other car is a Bolo."
"Real Men code network applications in Spice"
    Explanations:
The phrase "Don't let THEM immanentize the Eschaton" is from the Illuminantus! trilogy, and SEELE is a conspiracy that does actually immanentize the eschaton in movie End of Evangelion.
Bolos are giant sentient battletanks from Keith Laumer's Bolo books.
Spice is an analog hardware simulation language, and trying to use it to support complex behaviors is rather painful, harder than it needs to be, and given that I'm not even sure Spice is Turing complete maybe impossible. Just the sort of thing for a Real Man.

    That's awesome! XD I think I'm going to illustrate it, too...all chibi-like.

I want to try the cufflinks...was it you who suggested them at Otakon, Sparky?

    haha classic
  • I would suggest cufflinks with Horde or Alliance (WoW) Logos on them, but no doubt they have some sort of copyright on them.
  • How about a goatse t-shirt, oh wait there always is one of them.

    How about this:

"Venn ist das nurnstuck git und slotermeyer? Ya! Beigerhund das oder die flipperwaldt gersput!"

For those of you who don't get the reference, watch the first episode of "Monty Python's Flying Circus".

YES! That's like my favorite Monty Python sketch, now I finally have the words.

Yeah, that's a great sketch. Definitly one of my favorites. But what the heck does it mean? I tried to translate it online, but it doesn't seem to be real german... which I guess is the joke.
  • Actually:

"According to Eric Idle it's written down gibberish with no real meaning "Venn ist das nurnstuck git und Slotermeyer? Ya! Beigerhund das oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!" this is in the book Monty Python the first 200 years by Kim "Howard" Johnson."

The occasional word does make sense, but when you put it through a German-to-English translater, you get this:

"Is Venn the nurnstuck git and Slotermeyer? Ya! Beige dog that or the Flipperwaldt gersput!"

The non-translated words are the ones that are gibberish (not that the whole phrase isn't!)

Hurry up, I need to buy this shirt. Now.
  • Someone actually put it up on YouTube
