I grew up on the internet, shit like that doesn't even faze me anymore.
On the issue though, I'm actually pretty happy with my Catholic education, as it were. I was always skeptical of the whole establishment from the start, but the only thing I really remember ever being amazed at was the fact that Catholicism wasn't the only religion out there. That was the only time I ever thought, "what I learned was a total lie." For the most part, all 17 years of my education in Catholic schools didn't try to teach me things that were blatantly untrue.
If you use condoms and are smart about who you fuck - and I don't expect any of y'all to be otherwise - STIs are just another small, acceptable risk you have to take in order to live a happy, functional life. And they are a small risk, if you're smart. And there really aren't any these days that aren't manageable. You should really avoid HIV, but you know what? It's not a death sentence any more. You can live with it. You should try your damnedest not to get it, but you shouldn't be so paralytically scared that you don't enjoy your life.
Don't be scared. Just be smart. Use condoms all the time, every time, until you've been with someone long enough to trust them when they say they've tested clean. And only use one condom; it is indeed true that doubling (or tripling) up creates extra friction between the layers of latex and increases the chance of breakage.
You know, one day, you may meet the love of your life... and they may already have herpes, or even HIV. That's a hard risk calculation to make, but a lot of people make it, and take that risk knowingly. Something to think about.
I went to a Southern Baptist kindergarten. They wanted to spank me, but my Mom wouldn't sign the form. They also made us learn psalms, say prayers before eating, and they didn't let me take part in story time when my Mom started reading me stories from other religions to counteract their Jeebus mania.

My brother when to catholic school for most of his education (minus grades 5-8), and told me one day how he is super safe because he double bags. I had to slap him on the back of the head. The quote about extra friction and risk of breakage is absolutely true.
I went to catholic school but only for kindergarten and first grade. I can safely say that at that age, they didn't throw anything at me that screwed me up.
