F1 2011

edited March 2011 in Everything Else
We are nearing the beginning of a new F1 season, the second one I will be watching(semi) live, and the BBC has posted a season preview podcast which you can download direct at this link or add this feed to your podcatcher of choice. I am very excited to see what happens this season with the new Pirelli tires even though Jenson Button, who drives for my favorite team, McLaren, isn't feeling good about the team's chances early on. How is everyone else feeling about this season?

  • It will be interesting to go back to the Korean Grand Prix for the second time now that the teams and drivers have some experience there.

Also, Bahrain is off the schedule, oh snap.

Yeah, Bahrain was supposed to be this weekend, actually. According to another F1 podcast I was listening to, they're still trying to fit the Bahrain race in the season. Korea's track will also be in much better shape now that the track has had time to settle, that track was in no way ready for the rain at that race last season.
  • Anyone know how I might be able to see the races live online, legally? I am willing to pay, but I can't seem to figure out if this is even possible. Actually it doesn't matter if its live, I'd just like a legal way I can watch these things on the internet.

There is none that I know of.
  • I seem to remember that the BBC might be live streaming it. I know my mum used to use it for monitoring the pit crews and stuff like that.
  • I'm in the US so BBC probably won't stream things to me.

Yep, but BBC iplayer is trivially fooled by a decent proxy.

That's going to be pretty slow, though.

Ah, This is true. However, You can - for many of the shows on Iplayer - download the show in high quality after the fact instead of streaming it. Though that does defeat the purpose of watching live, it's a viable option for races that occur when you're sleeping or whatever else you might be doing that isn't watching the race, due to the time difference.

However, It's worth a test - it might be good enough for the purpose, I don't know - I usually don't have a problem, but your results may vary.
