SEGA is teaming up with Three Rings (Puzzle Pirates) to make a game that looks a lot like Four Swords.

  • Don't fuck it up, SEGA!
  • Please, SEGA, I've been your faithful disciple for more than two decades now, but some of your recent works have made it hard to keep the faith. Make this as awesome as games past.
  • Am I the only one expected an announcement that Gainax was doing a series on the chronicles of LORDGENOME?

On the other hand, this seems pretty cool. We can always use more Four Swords.

  • I just got into the Beta. Use this link before space runs out.
  • I've played it, and it's fun but it has a system that's goal is to do something similar to Nexon's Dungeon Fighter Online. Instead of having a fatigue bar that resets daily, it has points that are used to be able to move through dungeons and so on, but are only gained by either letting them regenerate over time or buying more. Also, unlike DFO if one is in a dungeon when they run out, they have to either give up or wait. This system is very frustrating and takes away from the experience. Ultimately both me and my friends stopped playing due to this.
  • Ok, just played level one. Boring. Fail. I was expecting Four Swords. I got LEGO: Star Wars. When are people going to learn that "walk around and hit things" is the most boring and pointless video game you can make?

Now that you mention it and I start to remember more, it was more boring than I thought (No I'm not changing my thought because someone said something. It's just honestly been too long since I've played it.). Luckily I had friends to play this with months ago but the grind to get anything decent as output in spiral knights is steep and ultimately by that point you will reach a point where you will not have enough points to keep playing for very long. Also, it's highly probable to be long gone due to boredom.
  • Every convention I go to, every time I look at Steam, and every time I read a gaming blog, I see some new independent game that has some unique mechanic, or combination of old mechanics, that make it interesting. With so many developers going out on a limb with creative ideas and pushing the limits of various genres, how come so many "walk around and hit things" games are still being made? There needs to be more to it than that! In just this past week I've played two betas, Dark Spore and Spiral Knights, which amounted to nothing much more than walking around and mindlessly hitting things. At least throw in a fucking puzzle!

    This suggestion is highly needed.

Not to say that throwing in just one puzzle is enough to make it satisfactory, but seriously.

I'm not trying to say only one is needed. However in the case Spiral Knights, a lot of things would need to be added in to make a decent experience. At least in a game like Darkspore they try to mask the whole "walk around and hit things" or add to it with things such as a few customizable features, having the ability to have mutiple characters in your arsonal like in pokemon, and having abilities. I honestly believe that this could EASILY be used to prove your hatred for walking around and hitting things because that's all this game has. The only more advanced things you can do are hit things with friends and throw the occasional bomb if you are feeling really special.

  • Free on Steam.
  • The Cat and The Coup looks like either propaganda or some crazy next-level shit.

I'm leaning more towards next level stuff than propaganda.
  • That reminds me of some of those weird early 90's games that were coming out when companies like Sierra were doing really well.
  • Played 34 minutes = BELETED.
