Probably better for your family's finances this way.
Personally I think it's a crock of shit. Either allow gambling or don't. If you allow it, allow it everywhere including the Internet. Just institute the same gaming regulations we already have to eliminate cheating and such.

Oh I don't think he really spent any money on that but he used to play on there quite a bit. Not so much anymore but I think he still played it every once in a while.

I agree. I don't see how its any different than regular gambling. Just like its bullshit how gambling is only allowed in certain places like reservations or places owned by Tribes. Just let anyone own a casino anywhere they want if they have a license.

That's just it. Casinos only make money when they are big. It's an economy of scale. If gambling were legal everywhere, there would be a couple slot machines in every bar in the country. There would be small poker tournaments at every billiards hall and bowling alley. All of the big casinos and the entire cities of Vegas and Atlantic City would crash and burn so hard. They intentionally allow casinos only in a few areas to concentrate the moneys.

I don't think so, Scott - Previous examples do not show this conclusion.
For example - We have legalized gambling in licensed venues - Just about every RSL, Social Club, sporting club, bowls club, tavern and half a dozen other places - not including special short term licenses that venues can get for poker nights, and are really not hard to get, and many do as needed - has Poker machines, and can host things such as Poker tournaments - in fact, there is a great business model going on lately, it's a massive scale poker tournament, and by winning enough, and making it into the top ranks of the tournament, they can send you to the WSOP - and other gambling events, as long as it's within the rules, which are the same rules casinos stick to. And that's excluding sports betting, which is ENORMOUS over here, and can go through both casinos, or licenced sport betting locations.
Oh, yeah, we still have casinos. Adelaide Casino - Ten largest employer in the state, and all the others are either government departments or chain stores. It has a single building. Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth is Larger than many of the Vegas Casinos. Casino Canberra, interestingly, one of the few casinos without poker machines, because all the local operators of poker machines thought it would take away the majority of their business. Conrad Jupiters casino, on the gold coast - Another Vegas sized casino, in a state which has one of the highest levels of gambling revenue of the country. Crown Casino Complex in Melbourne - Largest casino in the southern hemisphere, and one of the largest in the world, also, larger than most if not all of the casinos in Vegas or atlantic city. It has a bigger footprint than two New york city blocks. Star City Casino in Sydney is only slightly smaller. Treasury Casino - So named because it occupies the heritage building which once used to be the state treasury, along with the building next to it, occupies a one and a half city blocks, and even then, only because the state would not take kindly to the idea of them building over Queen's park and the top end of Elizabeth street.
Sorry, Scott, the idea is logical, but the prior examples are against you. We have Legalised gambling pretty much everywhere - Shit, were it not four in the morning, I could walk for less than five minutes, and come to a bowls club with cheap beer and about 80 poker machines - and our casinos not only have not crashed and burned, but are bigger than most of the casinos that you are saying would crash and burn.
