Geeknights Communal Game

edited June 2011 in Video Games
There is one thing everyone here has in common. A PC (or Mac).

More specifically, a browser.

Are there any games out there, that everyone here can play?

Something simple, maybe a turn based strategy game. Like Advance wars with 30+ players. (OK, I'm reaching here...)

But you get the idea. Without resorting to WOW and such, are there any games, preferably browser based, that we can all play? And that aren't a HUGE time sink? Like, maybe 1 hour per round or where 1 hour is a good block of time to play?

  • Counter-Strike
  • If you want browser-based, Quake Live's where it's at.
  • Any shooter made by Valve or minecraft. (even though it's a time sink)
  • Quake and CS. Sure.

I was kind of thinking even more simple.

Is there a battle tech type game we could all play, is Megamech playable?

What about a massive online bomberman? Yeah, that's more what I was hoping for :)
  • Although not *quite* the scale I want...

6 player Tetris could be fun

Damn, imagine 32 player Tetris... The bragging rights to winning just one round would be epic :)
  • I would prefer something Turn-Based that we can each check on our own time. Think Words with Friends but wih more people.

Yes! This. Something simple that we can all play together, preferably turn based. Maybe something we can all lock in our moves at the same time.
  • You're looking for internet-based board games with play-by-mail options, then. I think there have been threads on that, but here is the basis of what you need to know. The two major sites for these types of games are Yucata.de and BrettspielWelt, although there are others.
  • Is there anywhere only where we can play texas hold em together? I remember we played it during a GeekChat but I cant remember where it was.
