This might be stupid, but I think it'd be nice to have a thread where someone can ask, "I have a calculus homework question. Can anyone help?", or "I don't know how to change the oil in my car. Can anyone help?"
Requests might be for advice on traffic tickets, how to grow geraniums, where to find a V.I.N.C.E.N.T. figure, or what is a good apartment location in Chicago.
It also might be cross referenced with Fail of Your Day, but the "I've had a shitty day" poster could reasonably expect someone to give her a pat on the back and tell her things will be alright.
If everyone thinks this is stupid, I'll understand. It was just a random thought.

Lot's of interesting info from a geek perspective.
I added domain mapping to make the redirect from my blogger not needed and then deleted the original blogspot page since I was going all wordpress. but I get a 404 error and it's been over 48 hours.
I already switched the nameservers.
I edited the DNS (probably wrong)
This could wind up being a generally helpful go-to - a repository for specialized information that people might not otherwise be able to find.
Back in the old days, Bravo was actually a serious arts channel. There were no commercials, and It was a lot like PBS, except they never showed any science or history. It was all art, all the time.
There were two excellent short films I saw on Bravo around 1994. One was a version of The Tell-Tale Heart. It opened with the narrator being escorted into an interrogation room. Once inside, the viewer could see that he was in a straitjacket. The guards cuffed him to the floor by a long chain that wrapped around his waist. He began addressing a board of inquiry and recited the story, word for word. The narrator looked a little like Anthony Hopkins, and employed a few Hannibal Lecter mannerisms, and tic, but I don't think it was actually Hopkins.
I started viewing the second film about a third of the way through. This old English lord was narrating a sort of tour of his home and estate. He'd go from room to room casually relating how some such historical thing happened here, some personal thing happened to him there when he was a boy, and then - without any real change in demeanor, say, "Oh, this is the room in which I killed Ian. I fractured his skull using this great paperweight thingee here. Now if you'll just follow me outside.", and then they went around the grounds doing the same thing. Every now and then, the old guy would stop and tell how he had committed some gruesome murder just as matter-of-factly as he was doing the rest of the tour. It was a great little film.
When I first asked for help finding these films about five years ago, Scot simply said, "IMDB" and nothing else. Well, IMBD doesn't help at all, of course, because i don't know any of the actors or directors involved, and i don't know the name of the second film. Of course, I looked on IMBD for The Tell-Tale Heart, but I've never been able to find the version I saw.
Any suggestions?
Derp, found it.
In that vein, does anyone know where I can find wallpapers of books or libraries?
Does anyone know where I can get a decent LCARS screensaver - aside from System 47 - I'm tired of that one. Speaking of which, does anyone know where/how to get old screen savers like AfterDark 4.0 to run on Windows 7?
Finally, I'd really like to find some art that was in a magazine called something like Best of Omni Science Fiction 2. I have similarly searched all over the internet for artists that contributed to Omni, but can't find many.

He was so relieved that he offered to give me a $20 tip. I politely refused and said it was all part of the job, which it is.
His gratitude makes up for me being behind on work and the stress I'm dealing with right now.
/pats self on back
Glad you were able to make the world a better place today.
Personally, I think the Lenovo power manager is actually pretty decent, though.
