I love how they took the beginning and end of the level and expanded them out. The streetboarding part is way deeper and has multiple pathways, while the armored car chase is more insane and ridiculous than ever.
Just started playing this game last night. Did anyone else notice the Fang the Sniper/Nack the Weasel wanted posters? I wanted to cry from sheer nosalgia.

*sniff sniff, single tear* I TOLD YOU! I TOLD ALL OF YOU! OH SEGA, MY FAITH NEVER WAVERED!!!
Sonic 2006. The only "main" Sonic game I never finished.
Wow... I played Sonic Heroes to completion, but even I thought that Sonic '06 is too much of an unplayable mess.
I still remember the exact moment I put Sonic Heroes down for good. I was playing the first level as Team Sonic(or whatever the Sonic/Tails/Knuckles team was named), and I came to that huge loop where the camera pulls out to see the whole loop once you hit the boost pads beforehand, obviously signalling it as a game-controlled loop. When the camera zoomed back in, I found I had been flung off to the side on the upswing of the loop and was plunging to my death in the water. A scripted sequence failed to follow its script.
I shut the game off then and there and never looked back.
Though there is a controlled element to those, it's still possible to jump off or stop running and fall off. So what you're basically saying is that you gave up on an entire game because you didn't beat the level on your first try
I played through the tails, amy, and knuckles level. First thing I noticed: The voice acting isn't annoying! I can tolerate Tails, Sonic sounds like he's actually 20 years old, and knuckles... he's still the same, actually.
Also, so many little references. "That purple water makes me feel uncomfortable..."

Great game, I have to say!
