Well over a year. I believe it was in 2008, but it was announced during an episode, which is difficult to search without transcripts. Source: My user ID is 17.
Looking into it user id 4 was wasted on Kmac EDIT: Rym is user ID 5.
Careful, son. That's my wife you're talking about.
Then I have one burning question. KATE Y U NO USE ORIGINAL ACCOUNT?
Queer is a difficult word. Perhaps even a queer one. I think it applies to straight non-transsexual transvestites because it is something that questions the hetero-normative view of gender. Izzard isn't actually a transvestite. It's a gimmick. He used it because without it he was just a straight white middle class man, a fairly boring appearance.
I think we need to view things like this from the current American society because otherwise they have no meaning. The most history I'm willing to apply to fashion is the last 200-300 years. If you are right, then I don't think we can say transvestism is real, and I do believe it is.
Wait, so how is Eddie Izzard not a transvestite? If he identifies as such, is he not? (I also really do not think it is a gimmick with him. Gimmicks usually don't lead to sincere activism.) Also, how much do you have to "question the societal view of gender" to be labeled queer? I try my best to fight against gender stereotypes through action, and so do many of the people I know. However, I thought the label of Queer was one first and foremost adopted by the LGBT community as a label of self-identification, taking back a pejorative slur and using it as a badge of pride. If everyone who has a tiny bit of fluidity in their sexuality or gender identity is referred to as "queer" then I think most of us would be such, thereby diluting the term. I'm fine if anyone wants to label me queer, but it does change the term somewhat, for better or for worse. I would also draw the distinction between someone who wears clothing of the opposite gender to identify themselves as that gender. I think there is a fundamental difference between a man wearing a dress so he will be viewed as female, versus a man wearing the same dress and self identifying as male. Gender is a complete grey area, a variable palate of behaviors with which we define ourselves. In this case, don't you think that the question of the "existence of transvestism" is more a question of intent than anything else?
He really isn't a transvestite. I went to see him live on his last tour and was dissapointed to see wearing a man's shirt, pants, and beard. It did start as a gimmick, but when your public persona is entangled with a minority it's an easy transition into sincere activism. I don't remember where I saw this, but he was being interviewed and talked about how he started because of an off hand comment he made early in his career about being a transvestite, so people expected him to do it and he committed to the bit.
I don't have any come back or anything to the rest of your post though.
Honestly, I hate the rules in pool where you have to call out where you're going to pocket the ball. I think it would be much more exciting if you ram the balls as hard as possible. That stick is long, so you should be able to thrust it as hard as possible for its full length so that you can see the carnage of the balls bouncing everywhere. It doesn't matter if it's your friend's or your own, I want to see it going into random holes. Invite more people as well, it's always funnier when you've got everyone just trying to have a go at it.
