Comic New York: A Symposium
The Columbia University Libraries are hosting a symposium this weekend (3/24 and 3/25) called
Comic New York, about the history of comics and their relationship with New York City. It's going to have panels on underground comics, newspaper comics, the history of political cartoons, and some other things - the keynote is a panel with Chris Claremont, longtime X-Men author. Other panelists include a couple people from MoCCA, the head of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, a former DC executive, and a bunch of cartoonists and scholars from around the city.
I plan on going to at least some of the Saturday panels and the keynote, and I'd encourage you to drop by Columbia if you don't have other plans, and are at least somewhat interested in academic discussions of comics.
