More stupid, stright from Texassholeofourcountry.

Again, the shocking stupidity of our country and ludicrous "morality" and prudishness so strict that it would make a British grandmother and schoolmarm in her 80's look like a two-dolla' Thai whore makes the news.

What the hell is wrong with people?

In response, I'd like to say shitfuckcockcuntbitchtittiesassholegodmotherfuckersonofabitch.

  • "If they can't find a book that uses clean words, they shouldn't have a book at all."

Uh... even if I agreed with coarse language being bad and evil I'd still say a book with bad language is better than no book at all. That was just a dumb thing to say. >_>

They wouldn't have liked the play script we read in junior high here. XD Swearing and propositions for sex did abound! I remember stopping halfway through a sentence because I wasn't sure I was allowed to say some of that stuff.
  • Haha, I loved how the parents threw a fit, but then admitted in the interview that they had not even read the book. You'd think that if their child came to them with a complaint about a book being offensive, they'd read it themselves before they contest the book formally... oh wait, that's what RESPONSIBLE parents do. *coughcough*

That being said, it seemed both the school administrators and the writer of the article had the right idea. Don't just take the content of the book at face value - what is the book's theme or message? As the interviewees in the article showed, Farenheit 451 presents issues that are incredibly relevant to American society right now. I'm glad then, that the school allowed the offended student to read a different book with the same themes.

It's when it goes beyond individual choice that I get pissed off. What is with people and trying to create this perfect, sanitized, FAKE world for their children to live in? The real world isn't like that. The real world is full of swearing, blasphemies, offensive things, and danger. How can those kids grow up to navigate that if they're constantly shielded from it and taught that nothing should be allowed to violate their own personal belief system?

[discontent] Fuck you people, get out of your freaking shell, and stop counting on the government and religion to quell anything that might offend you. [/discontent]

ArtBoy, I vote you the Captain of the Stupid Patrol, for rooting out articles showing the retardedness of our society. :D
  • Although I appreciate the sentiment, I'm not sure I approve of that tittle as it can be interperted in different ways. >-<

As we all know, I am not the captain of a bunch of stupids who patrol. ^_^o
  • That kind of idiocy has been going on for decades.
See this list of literary classics that have been either banned or challenged by assholes. That kind of idiocy has been going on for decades.
Works that promote deeper thought and analysis of society/the human condition/core beliefs are always challenged, because that kind of exploration scares small people to death.
That being said, DOWN WITH HARRY POTTER, THE DEVIL BOY! HE'S TEACHING OUR KIDS HOW TO SUMMON FORTH THE DEMONS FROM HELL! IT'S ALL A TRICK OF THE DEVIL, I TELL YOU!
  • PIKACHU! WE CURSE YOU IN THE NAME OF GOD!

    SATAN IS INSIDE THAT POKEBALL!
  • They probably confused it with Fahrenheit 911...
