I'm starting to place the accent. My guess is either Pennsylvania or a state slightly north or northwest of Chicago. Her pronunciation of "Toronto" is pretty much hilarious.
The volume levels were troublesome on this show. Emily was much quieter than Scrym. You guys really need to download Levelator. It's even free!
The levels are due solely to my computer being slow and myself being too tired to run a long adaptive normalization process. I was going to remix the episode tonight and re-upload it, since I'll be doing similar work for the "Clown Pistol Incident" anyway. I was just too tired to fiddle with the parameters long enough to make it work.
Usually when we have a guest on the show, I record them to a separate track and run a few custom processes on that track, including a strong digital noise gate (with a moderate window size, short decay, and long attack) and an adaptive normalization routine (amplifies sound above a certain threshold while limiting sound above another threshold). It takes a bloody while on an old 1GHz Thunderbird, a problem which will rectify itself when I build a new PC early next year.
Levelator is fairly useless if you run Linux, or more importantly if you actually know a lot about compressors and adaptive gain control. It'll make a bad podcast sound better, but it's nowhere near as good as setting up your own process based on your record chain and levels.
Additionally, we're going to upgrade our equipment substantially in the near future in order to have more preamplified inputs available.
Wallace is a real person. He is currently the owner of a comic book shop called the Beguiling in Toroto. My friend used to work for him. My friend was given the job of organizing the horrible furry porn among other things.
And at one point Wallace and Brian were so poor that they had to share a bed.
It's not 70s so much as it's Belgian. My father has an identical one. I had never once shaved my upper lip until just a few years ago. For weeks, I felt cold and naked without it. ^_~ Even worse, there were a few facial expressions I'd always made that didn't quite work after it was gone.
As for the picture, that was back when I was still at RIT and president of RIT Anime. IIRC, it was taken during tape checkout at some random meeting where someone had happened to have a tiara. You can consider it my coronation portrait. ^_~
It's so weird that you're doing this podcast now, because I just reread all the Scott Pilgrim Stuff a few days ago. It really is one of my favorite books, I just wish that new volumes would come out more often.

The tiara is strange enough.
When you combine it with the hat in the following photo, you both have a lot of explaining to do.
I suspect they'll be too busy have, you know, fun to do any videotaping. And then there's the grossness of editing video... Hey, at least you're in the right country to go if you put in the effort and money. :B Sita-con sounds like it'll be a blast. Someone get photos of artist alley? Please?
I really want to read Scott Pilgrim now. I wanted to read it before but now I really want to. Haven't seen it available in any comic books stores here though. Probably because it's selling out as soon as it touches the shelves.
Oh, Emily, I don't know how you keep up with those two noisemakers. ;p Good show!
I finally found a store with Scott Pilgrim and read the first volume. Once it got going, it became pretty good. Sorry, I'm not a fan boy yet, but I will read the next volume and see what happens.
Scott Pilgrim the FLASH!Well it's a fan flash linked on Radiomaru but the voices are kinda like I imagined them while reading. If there was ever a Scott Pilgrim animated series or movie I would love the voices to be these.

You know I blasphemed on Scott Pilgrim, right Viga? But that animation is awesome. And I doubt the comic will be as awesome for me as that flash animation. At least, the part I read wasn't...
So, apparently the lastest volume is being released February 4th at midnight in manhattan. Later that day, there will be a signing and beer-party out in Brooklyn. I will definitely be going.

Well.....I wonder what kind of pirate it is. If it is what I think it is, I understand Scott completely.

X-Prix - What good came come of this?
SITA-con - Sadly I cannot go. Much sadness
Emily - A very nice addition to the team!
Emily was here, so I edited the show in the shortest amount of time possible for obvious reasons.

I did indeed post a picture to Hot or Not back at Uni. I had a final rating of 7.8 out of 10. Not too shabby =P

If I saw a polar bear sitting in my living room, I wouldn't say: "Oh, it's polar bear. Huh."
I'm bummed. I can't go to Sitacon. I SO WANNA GO, but I'm saving up for a laptop and I can't afford the gas anyway...
It sucks 'cause I'm only 4 hours away. GAGH! It sounds so freakin' sweet, too! 24 hour a day videogames, anime, plus a cosplay contest. Fuck!
Hey Rym, how about you video the highlights of it for us poor saps who can't make it?

The Ninja Consultants did a show on it recently too.
