Website obituaries.

edited July 2013 in Technology
Here's a centralized hub for deceased websites.

We've just recently witnessed the demise of Google Reader, and now AltaVista is closing on Monday.

Yahoo! will also be shutting down several more services later this year.

  • I think, out of all of those, the shutting down of the web player will have the most impact. I know many sites still use that.

Who? I think I've only ever used it a few times to watch movie trailers that I couldn't find on YouTube. Other than that, I've never needed it for anything else.
  • How did AltaVista make it all the way to 2013? Whats it been doing all these years?

That's not the yahoo web player. The yahoo webplayer is a little bit of code you putin your site so that, when people click on links to media files (mp3s and other types) it plays in a little player on the page.
