Pre-judged anime: Were we right?

In 2013, at Anime Boston, we reviewed all of the upcoming anime. As in, anime that had not been seen by anyone in the US. We were extremely confident in the quality of our reviews, based solely on a paragraph of text and a single image.

Now, years later, the world has seen these shows. Now, it's your turn to judge us! Were we right? Or are we just assholes? Can anime truly be reviewed by its cover alone?

  • Danganronpa was only one there that I've seen. Fun thing, Rym says that it reminds him of 999, and the Danganronpa game was from same people as 999. Also, the assessments were most right, although I would suggest the game over the anime, although the anime itself was decent.
  • Whipping up a quick list now, for those without time to watch an hour video just to find out what's what.

I've not watched any of these other than FREE!, so there's that. Also playing fast and loose for the sake of short descriptions of quality. Actual results may vary.

From the notes, because I should put it here -

I also found this Video clip and hearing someone talk English in a British accent in a Japanese accent is the weirdest fucking thing.

I also watched those shows! Well, I only watched like 2 episodes of Servant X Service, but I watched the other two in their entirety.

Keep in mind I'm judging by the manga and what I'm told about the anime, but Maoyuu maou yuusha seems to be better than you judged it, but it's not a world-beater. It plays the tropes, but then subverts them, and plays them straight sometimes. It really is babby's first economics to start off with, but it slowly gets more complex - building on itself, basically. I wish scans groups would hurry up a bit with it, but I suppose I can't complain too much.

A surprising number of the things you said would never be licensed or translated, either are being or have been - almost every time you mention it, in fact.
