Your D&D Ability Scores. (not a quiz, how you think they are)

  • As for character class... I would be a cleric in a second if there actually were gods to serve. Then again, how soon would I bristle at the orders of a higher power? I can imagine myself studying magic just as easily as I studied IT (bootlegging spells, trading controlled ones, making stupid magic items), but at the same time growing bored easily. In the end, no basic class fits me more than that of a bard.
  • Rym really wants me to post in this thread, so why not. I was going to wait until I could fully research and mathematically determine the numbers on some sort of scale, but forget that. I'll just shoot the craps.

Str 11 - In terms of being able to lift things and such, I don't have lots of upper body power. Despite that, I can still punch someone out, and whenever I actually have to do manual labor, I get the job done. Also, my arms are relatively weak, but the rest of my body is relatively strong. Give me a ball and I can fuckin' kick it.

Dex 15 - I'm not a ballerina or anything, but I am pretty dextrous. I can balance while walking on narrow things. I can throw things accurately. I have lots of manual dexterity. If I practice something for a short time, I can easily record it to muscle memory. I may not be able to do a split, but I can flex a bit more than the average guy. Also, while I might not be able to run far, I can run fast.

Int 16 - I know lots of shit, I just know shit in certain categories. Since the int bonus applies to all knowledge checks, I think I have a 16 int overall. I've just also got a lot of skill points in various knowledge skills.

Wis 14 - Wisdom is a tough call. In lots of ways, my wisdom is around 9. In other ways, my wisdom is 20. I just copped out and picked a number in the middle.

Con 17 - In pretty much every way except one my con is 18. See, I rarely get sick. I can't even remember the last time I was ill. I can endure lots of pain. The only thing is I can't seem to exert myself for long periods of time. After about an hour of endless DDR, I can't go on. I can run maybe a mile, then I fall over. It's a problem I've always had, probably relating to breathing and respiration. I definitely don't have asthma though, so whatever.

Cha 16 - Charisma is tricky with me. If I really want someone to like me, or to make nice, I can do it. And when people get to know me, they seem to think I'm the awesomes. I'm also not ugly. The thing is, lots of times I purposefully roll poorly on diplomacy checks. I'm often mean to people or insult people because I'm too honest. Also, I follow the golden rule on charisma. If un-charismatic people come near me, I'm uncharismatic towards them. I figure since these are ability scores that the numbers should reflect my ability. I have the ability to be charismatic, I just often don't use that full ability.
  • As for class, I think I'd probably be a rouge/mage. I'd be a Rouge because I have mad skills. I'd be a mage because I am a wizard with technologies.
  • Con 17 - In pretty much every way except one my con is 18. See, I rarely get sick. I can't even remember the last time I was ill. I can endure lots of pain. The only thing is I can't seem to exert myself for long periods of time. After about an hour of endless DDR, I can't go on. I can run maybe a mile, then I fall over. !!!!!!!! Fungus!!!! Lower that Con now Scott!

STR: 9 - I'm short, slender, and have a shoulder injury that keeps me from lifting weights with much aplomb. Oh, and I beat Rym in an arm-wrestling match in H.S., despite giving up 5 inches, so there's no way in hell he's a 13. 10 *maybe* given that he's aged. I'm certain Scott could kick his ass.
DEX: 17 - I'm extremely fast and agile. Also well-coordinated though not all that graceful or flexible. I can leap onto a kitchen counter (on my feet) without using my arms. I did 68 sit-ups in one minute in J.H., 3 off the school record.
CON: 10 - I never had great endurance (relatively speaking) even when I was in shape, and now have chronic bronchial asthma.
INT: 16 - Consistently in the top 3% when it comes to tests (I.Q. or otherwise).
WIS: 12 - I'm not modest or patient, but I'm not a damned fool. I'm perceptive and empathetic, and concentrate well.
CHA: 11 - I'm good-looking, though I have a sour temperament. I can be an effective speaker, and I'm not awkward in mixed company. Overall average.

I've been lifting for the past year or so, something I'd never done before. I'm a lot stronger than I used to be in high school ^_~.

Scott has almost zero upper body strength.
  • He's definitely got more tone, Tallas, but I still doubt that a 13 is quite appropriate. 11 or 12, I could give you that, Rym. To that end, something's been bugging me, and I want to ask a question: what kind of technique do you use when lifting? I remember seeing you do bicep curls once and it struck me as being a bit...odd.

Really, though, I've always had a beef with D&D's Strength score because it only really accounts for upper body strength. I have very powerful legs and a very strong back, but D&D's Strength score does not account for this in any way. The whole system's a bit, well, unrealistic, if you will.

Yeah, the magic doesn't help either.

Them be fightin' words! Actually I don't doubt that you're a lot stronger now. It'd be hard not to be, though somehow I've managed all these years.

So yeah, I finally poked my head in here, and my first task is to try to deflate your ego. I should know better ;P

After long Consideration, here it is

Str: 17 (I can Bench Press my own bodyweight - 92 Kilograms, and I'm pretty similar in other tests of strength)

Dex: 14 (Well Ballanced and hard to knock down, due to at Pentjak Silat, but I can't ice skate or skateboard.)

Con: 14 (Hardly ever get sick, I heal fast, and can take both a lot of punishment without much injury and I also have a very high pain threshold. But Drugs of all sorts(The legal, medical sort) knock me all about as I'm not used to them, as I very rarely take them.)

Intel: 17 (According to the Stanford-Binet IQ test, I have an IQ of Over 140 - but I play dumb a lot of the time, because its easier to be considered an occasionaly profound average person - and I have Low Latent Inhibition.)

Wis: 16-18 (A lot of factors influence wisdom - For example LLI helps me Consider a situation and all things that can reasonably occur from it, but it is Int pretending to be Wis - But I've lived pretty hard for a long time, so I'm not ignorant, either)

Cha: 18 (I'm a Good Barman and Hospitality worker, so basically, I'm professionally trained to be charismatic, and get a chance with every single shift to polish my skills. Didn't help that I started out kinda charming, too. Tip - Master your Boyish grin, and you can get away with anything.)

Str: 3 (Ethan Frome could beat me up)
Dex: 1 (I feel lucky when I get on the Metro without falling onto the tracks)
Con: 1 (I'm about as sick as Doc Holliday in "Tombstone". In fact, people have actually told me that I remind them of this character. Coughing up blood makes it an easy comparison.)
Intel: 14 (I'm trying to make myself feel good and be humble at the same time)
Wis: 15 (Owing mostly to a killer combination of nihilism, pessimism, and cynicism)
Cha: 15 (In younger days, I was a smoldering amalgam of Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights, Steerforth from David Copperfield, James Dean in "Giant", Sebastian Flyte from Brideshead Revisited, and Holden Caulfield. Now I'm more like Edward Rochester from Jane Eyre, Ethan Frome, and, of course, Doc Holliday.)

What, the blinking lights don't help "guide" you?

I've never seen this game actually played, but it's sold in this catalog. Here's some of the patent information.

I would also play that game.
  • What the hell, here goes.

Str- Easily a 16, I have quite a bit of upper and lower body strength, I was always stronger than most.
Dex-12 Here I do not shine so much, nothings funnier than watching me try to hop a fence.
Con- 16 while I am strong I am also a stockier fellow than most.
Int- 16 I have always been a smart guy, but I go no higher in that until I become better at Mathematics. Algebra has always kicked me in the nuts.
Wis-? I really do not know this, sometimes its really high, other days it really sucks.
Cha- Im a natural 10 but I can bluff like I am an 18.

    Str: 9 (I weak)
Dex: 12 (I fence, and I do circuitry work)
Con: 12 (I don't get sick very often)
    Int: 16-20 (I'm a Physicist)
Wis: 16-20 (I'm not the physicist who puts his hand on the 24 amp lines)
Cha: 10 (bad skin and greasy hair, but I do speak Japanese and am a good conversationalist. I'm also a good team leader and teacher, so it balances out)

Str-11 I'm a big guy, but not especially strong. I could carry something heavy for a long time, but I'm less capable of just exerting force.
Dex-13 I have fairly nimble fingers, and I'm pretty light on my feet, mainly due to DDR, a little fencing, and some other martial arts in my past, but I'm limited by my height and girth.
Con-14 I don't get sick often, rowed for several years, enjoy tough condition such as snow and the like, and am generally not fazed by normal pains. Unfortunately I get winded pretty easily, especially if my allergies are acting up.
Int-15 While I'm not the greatest at keeping track of information on its own, if its part of something larger that I'm interested in, I'll guzzle it down. I'm an education major focusing in physics, so I deal more with transferring knowledge rather than applying it.
Wis-13 I wouldn't say I lack common sense, but its not my strongest suit. I am generally perceptive of my surroundings though.
Cha-11 I'm kind of awkward around people I'm not familiar and comfortable with, but am generally polite with them. Among friends I am much more open, and can lead a group if I have to, but don't prefer to. I've got a bit of an inferiority complex. I suppose an 11 is an average of all that.

I was lucky to have a crew club at my high school back in Warwick. We were a club, so we had to raise our own funds (which was a lot considering the cost of the sport), and we didn't get much respect, but it was still a good time. I was never really much of an organized sports team person, but it was strange and nautical enough to get me interested.

  • Str: 9 - I'm weaksauce. Unless I sit on you or grab a weapon with + whatever.
Dex: 5 - Everyone says I'm slow to react.
    Con: 10 - Um...I don't bargle easily.
Int: 13 - I still have a lot to learn.
Wis: 16 - "Mama ain't raise no fool."
Cha: 17 - I love people and being sociable. They seem to like it too.

I don't think you could do this realistically, because the only stats that have clear tests associated with them are strength (pounds able to lift above the head in a military press, divided by 10, with modifications if you go into 18-plus-percentages) and intelligence (IQ divided by 10). A constitution test could conceivably be taken from outside of D&D and applied without too much trouble, as could a dexterity test, but charisma and wisdom are both stats that are very difficult to rate.

I'd start by assuming I conform to the curve, so without other conflicting info, I'd assume all my stats fall in the 9-12 range on a 3-18 scale. Sedentary lifestyle penalty dips strength and dexterity, no effect on constitution due to my age... There would probably be an age-based wisdom penalty though. Geek character trait would boost the intelligence stat, but at the cost of a charisma penalty. :) Possibly a strength and wisdom penalty as well, but maybe a constitution boost... hard to say. Gotta wait until D&D releases their Geek supplement. :)

    So maybe...
    STR 7
    INT 13
    WIS 11
    DEX 8
    CON 10
    CHA 10

I have no clue about D&D, but I'll join this debacle anyway :)

Str: 16 (I do a lot of martial arts and have a vast porn collection)
Dex: 13 (I use to be very nifty, but I've put on some weight recently)
Con: 14 (I'm rarely ill, but have a digestive disorder)
Int: 15 (I've a great capacity for learning, but am guilty of being 'lazy' at times)
Wis: 15 (Good overall but a few shortcomings in unmentioned areas)
Cha: 16 (Fantastic, women love me)

This is a pretty cool idea, and a way to be honest with oneself. Sounds like a boatload of fun. Feel free to edit or argue with me over these stats. ^_^
[Anything corrected in red is due to a re-estimation, >.< Apparently utilizing other people as a reference is a bad idea... -_-]

    STR: 14 12
    DEX: 16 14
    CON: 15 13
    INT: 14 12
    WIS: 17 16
    CHA: 16 14

    Strength: 12

I grew up scrapping with other people. I've spent nearly the last 12 years training in various martial arts. An example: at 7 years-old I could wield and control a 6 foot piece of rebar. I work most of the year doing a sizable amount of physical labor, as well as working out regularly.

    Dexterity: 14

I grew up on an island, working on boats and monkeying around in trees has been a good portion of my life. Martial arts also play a role, I have amazing balance, reflexes, and flexability. I'm something of an acrobat as well, considering that I can do a frontflip and some other basic acrobatics.

    Constitution: 13

I am very resilient. I heal quickly, don't get sick often, and I don't get injured easily. When I do, my pain tolerance is remarkably high. Example: Got into a car accident, no seat belt, I broke my nose against the dashboard, and had an airbag explode in my face. No concussion, no whiplash, and I just shrugged it off.. I'm pretty sturdy. Also have you ever been hit with a bokken during sparring matches? I have.

    Intelligence: 12

I'm not stupid. My intellectual stimulation normally arises from things that interest me, not from curriculum. I mean I fixed my first VCR when I was 8. I built my first radio at 12. I'm more of a hands-on intelligence kind of individual. As is most of my family.

    Wisdom: 16

I grew up watching people. Being observant and aware of my surroundings. I live in a tourist trap, being able to spot a sucker is a job requirement. Body language, semantics, etc... I grew up in a household of practicality. I've learned the hard way from my mistakes. I work with high school students, and I helped raise a child from the ages of 4 to 7, I have patience. Being able to not dwell on things that bother me for too long as it leads to emotional disturbances.

    Charisma: 14

I'm not only good with the ladies, I can befriend most people relatively easy. I'm a natural leader when it comes to it. I drove cab, worked in retail, and worked with children, all of which involve learning how to become charming. I nearly always been able to talk my way out of trouble. People still to this day utilize me as a mediator, or a go between to resolve disputes. It just comes natural to me. I am confident in my abilities, which in turn makes me a charasmatic individual.

    Class Options:

    Monk, Cleric, or Ranger.

STR: 8 (I kinda really weak. I rely on my CHA to get others to do heavy lifting for me ^_^)
DEX: 17 (I always trip but I never fall. I've never broken or sprained anything. I used to learn dance so I'm very nimble.)
CON: 3 (I get sick very often. I could catch AIDS airborne)
INT: 12 (Meh, not that smart imo)
WIS: 14 (I'm really good at observing and learning. I learn a lot from every person I meet and draw knowledge from their experiences)
CHA: 18 (I'm very amicable. I don't have any enemies nor do i put myself in situations that would bring about conflict. I pride myself in the fact that I can talk to anyone and make them feel comfortable and entertained. I also use my cute girl powers a lot)

By the way I think Hyuga no Butsu has a hax on life if his stats are true =P
