Hockey and Vending Machines

edited February 2006 in Everything Else
We have Hockey in the UK, but it refers to a game played with a hard ball on grass with no pads. We call your "Hockey" Ice Hockey.

On the vending machines, no that doesn't work on the ones I've seen it tried on, but you can still break one and watch the maintenance man when he opens it to see the code list on the inside of the machine. Also, it's still a good source of cash to jam a hanky up the coin return slot (you don't have to worry about people noticing they're not getting change because it makes no noise and people are used to being ripped of by machines), a druggy friend of mind made a steady £5 a day doing that on a coke machine.

  • The salt thing used to work back in the day, but has since been overcome by proper engineering. Snopes Link
  • Well, what you call just "hockey" we call field hockey. It's usually only played in the US by girls in middle school, high school and college. When someone here says hockey they usually mean ice hockey.

And that pee thing is old old news. You should read gizmodo and/or engadget if you like to know all about the latest gadgets and gizmos.
  • According to that snopes article it may still work if you feed a kind of tube into the machine to get past the perforations in the coin slot...

    interesting.
