  • Fred and I kinda play the Harmonica, I'm a half decent drummer, but that's about it.
  • Depending on the price, I might buy a melodica. However, No matter the price, next semester, I'm Buying A Keytar!
A melodica is about $35. That keytar, however...
  • Mentioned before, but I play drums and recently started guitar as well. If I can get both of those nailed down, and hopefully some piano as well, then I will consider my musical life complete.
  • Bass and Sax, but never at the same time. I have also been know to dabble in singing and harmonica. What I have really wanted to buy is a Theremin, ever since the Tekzilla episode on them.

  • I play flute/piccolo, oboe, violin, and clarinet with varying levels of proficiency. I once thought I would be a music major, but because my ambition was to be a high school marching band director and I realized I hate high school students, I ended up giving up on that idea. I still play piccolo in the university marching band, and I play oboe in the concert band, but I really miss violin. I was never all that good at clarinet, so I don't really miss it all that much, but there are so many songs that make me wish I could pick up my violin and just sit and play awhile.

    I wish!

    Yeah, this.
  • I play the tuba (which tbh is the best instrument ever), bass guitar and bass trombone. I really enjoy playing them because I get to play loads of different genres of music. Tommorow I'm playing some jazzy stuff on bass and a couple of months ago I got payed to go to India to play Bollywood music at a wedding. India is one hell of a polluted place.

    Yeah, this.
Yeah, but a keytar is so much cooler and I can use it as a midi controller.

As a fellow tubist (with extensions to euphonium and trombone), I must agree with your sentiment.

My flatmate jams on his guitar at all hours, frequently to the Mountain Goats and AJJ. I've kind of got the itch to stop shittalking about it, pop into the local guitar store, buy the cheapest mandolin I can get, and start learning so that I can join in.

  • I'm composing a song on the piano to teach myself how to play and read melody. It's going quite well.
  • Mandolin is really easy to learn if you've played guitar before. Which I know you have.
  • Mandolin is really easy to learn if you've played guitar before. Which I know you have.
Also easy to transport, which is a huge factor right now.

I'm going to wait until next Monday to avoid impulsive spending and then, provided I've still got the itch, I'll hit up one of the local shops for the cheapest one I can find.
  • I've been taking violin for the past year now, I'm really digging it.

I've always wanted to learn a stringed instrument like the violin or cello. That would be fun to learn.

Ehhh. Maybe it would help you with basic musical knowledge, but the two really aren't very similar.

I'm intent on taking a basic musicianship class next semester. I am sick and tired of having to play by ear and being limited to my right hand ('cause my left hand is a lazy, uncoordinated idiot). That combined with this semester's ballroom dance class shall prepare me for the cotillian in no time at all.

  • Yay instrument discussion! I love my flute! :D:D:D

No seriously, I've played flute forever and almost majored in it. But I am realistic, and I majored in something that will make me money. I do play in a local community band now since gradumating. Its a really good band too, I only got in because I know the director. Yay music making!
