Strange dreams

  • Hmmm. So when you say it's "under your control", do you mean that you experience the dream with consciously, as if you were awake? Or you can just control what's happening? Because in truly lucid dreams, it's an incredibly vivid experience of actually being fully awake and conscious in the dream -- maybe that's not what you're talking about.
Well, sometimes it feels like I'm awake, and other times I'm just watching what's going on. All the time, though, I'm aware that I'm dreaming. The dreams which I do remember for do seem fairly vivid, like a memory. Sometimes I don't realize that I had a dream even, and if it was a good dream, then I'm in a bad mood for the rest of the day. An example would be when I dreamed that I took a math test, and did really well (I can dream about anything I want, but sometimes I run out of ideas, and dream about what's coming up in the next few days). I woke up "remembering" that I did really well on my math test, only to find out that I still had to take the math test in a few hours. It was good review, I actually thought through the problems in my dream. Nothing beats doing precal in my sleep! Most of the times, I'm dreaming about other things though, most of which are a bit personal, but nonetheless realistic. Hope that answers your question, I went off on a bit of a tangent.
  • I had this extremely odd dream that involved the FRC. If you aren't familiar with Twin Peaks, then this will make no sense to you at all. This was set in the Twin Peaks universe and it was a "reenactment" of the pilot episode of the series. Everyone in the FRC (as well as a couple forumites) portrayed a particular character. It was really weird.
  • I just dreamed that a brother and sister raised in captivity learned that they had weird powers (the sister could manipulate cookies and make deadly chains out of them), and had to escape to find Johnny Quest so he could explain everything to them. They fought a big burly man and a lady who was their fake mom. And also there were digimon.

    Wtf.
  • And also there were digimon.
    There are always digimon.
  • Being a cookiemancer would be the best thing ever.

    Awesome dream.
The sister reminds me of Laney, cuz Laney's power is to instantly conjure and then manipulate food. Do you mind if I use that cookie-chain idea? Pretty please. ;D

This is funny, because Digimon, along with Medabots and Communism, is one of my stock answers to give as either a nonsensical answer or an answer to a question I actually don't know the real answer too. That sounds just like something I would say...

How about a pastrymancer? You'd get more than cookies!

Sugarmancer, for optimum breadth. Cookies, pastries, candies, and lovely ladies.

Had a strange dream that started off in this strange garden (Reminiscent of the Deku Palace from Majora's Mask.) where you had to walk between flowerbeds of what were apparently roses but green and would turn red or white as you approached (Avoiding the white ones was apparently important.) then I met some stylish ninjas before going through more trees onto a hillside with dragons who, for the most part had blue bodies and orange wings, before turning into a one winged dragon (One large rippling wing growing from the centre of the back.) and ending up in a rather awesome battle against these two buildings, each laden with cannons and each with a clock-face at the front. I eventually set the magazine of one on fire.

Does everyone get that feeling in dreams where they're absolutely sure of something which, on later reflection, seems completely absurd?

I had this weird dream of me going to visit the crew of AWO down in Florida. When I get to the building, it turns out Daryls' place is on the top building and the space in the middle is full of gang members and scary people. However, I got there pretty easy, the problem was when we went down the stairs. Then suddenly all the lights went out and they came back but the AWO and his friends were gone and I was in the middle of a bunch people that wanted to kill me, or sequester. By a miracle I was able to make it down to the first floor. I got into a convenience store and then I woke up.
It was pretty weird, I haven't listen to them since December and I have never dream of people that I haven't meet in person before :O

I was convinced that this was a true story until I read this sentence and remembered which tab I had open.
  • Last night I had a pretty strange dream. I was in an airplane which seemed to be some sort of prison transport. The inside looked somewhat like a dungeon with various demons and whatnot chained to the walls, in cages, and just wandering around. I seemed to be a stereotypical devil-like demon: red with big horns. I wandered around for a little bit until I try to find somewhere to sit down. I find one spot and sit down but then a demon chained to the wall, looking somewhat like a left 4 dead witch, complains saying something like "I just want to be left alone" in a whiny tone. I move to a spot farther away but that is no good. It seems to be ok but after a few minutes another female demon gets angry because I am not religious. Ironically this demon seems to be the steretypical crazy religious christian lady. She riles the others up and a mob forms. Then a human security guard comes in trying to break it up. He is timid and does very little to help. Then I see a handgun lying on the floor and throw it to him. He shoots randomly in a couple different directions and then shoots me for some reason, after which I say something like ( haha I can't die). He shoots around a couple more times and then I wake up.
  • Before I woke up this morning I was dreaming about browsing these forums, and checking out the Sarah Palin topic, where there was a picture of Sarah Palin making the Light "just as planned" face.

    I don't even know.

Had a somewhat normal dream, and by normal, I mean I was fighting a Zelda boss (I've gotten used to having regular video game based dreams.).
The boss in question was in a smallish room resembling a crypt and herself resembled a quite tall woman with a blue and white version of the wedding mask for a face with two long, white hair-like tentacles stick out from the top of her face/head (I might draw a picture.) which didn't seem to do much.

Of note were her attacks, the major one which hit after you did a an amount of damage and basically began by messing around with which items you could use, causing items to spaz out when selected, then after a while, all items in the item menu (N64 version.) became faded out and un-usable.
She had another attack, a projectile would hit you, resulting in you being healed significantly but would then, shortly after, begin draining your health really fast.
I looked through the rest of the menu screens and they were all messed up but finally realized that I could scroll off the bottom of the item screen and all my items were hidden down there.

Fire arrows quickly ensued and I moved onto the next part of the dream. I think her name was Death Mask. I'll try drawing a picture some time.
Also of note was that I had red, green and blue power arrows, instead of red, blue and white.

I had rather a normal dream. It was about the zombie apocalypse, and the zombies seemed to be heavily based on the immortal soldiers from the latest FMA: Brotherhood episodes.

  • I dreamed about freeing people from their issues by defending myself against the physical manifestation of their problems which would warp the dream world and try to attack me. Strangely enough I was at least armed with my oak training bokuto, so much bone crushing action occurred, both to my enemy and me. Rather strange.

It sounds like a shonen anime.
  • Had an odd dream which I think I only remember because I woke up during it. I was talking with Jerry Holkins (Penny Arcade's Tycho) about something, and this puppy that looked like a lamb (I think it's name was Lamb,) bit and held onto my face/forehead. It's lower jaw teeth somehow got between my eye and skull, and the top teeth were in my forehead somewhere. I couldn't get it off me since I only had my left hand free because in my right hand I was holding a melting stick of butter. So I had to ask Jerry to get it off me, and then I woke up.
  • I'm not sure I can describe the dream I had last night, it had bombs failing on a city, caves full of giant raptors and a mad dash through different "zones" as the Mist started to fill the areas we had already been.... My action dreams are so fun ^_^ (I don't have nightmares per say, I consider them action/horror dreams, due to my ability to usually become lucid in them)

A horrifying shonen with too much dream pseudo realism and peeling peoples faces back after they literally burn off/melt to see all the musculature working frantically below. And also there were fingernails torn off for torture and water boarding. It was way more messed up than I made it sound up there.

  • I had a dream where I was in Kaiji. It was the part where he is trying to beat the pachinko machine with a 700 million yen payout. Apparently the Yakuza casino with the machine was also my old high school. So I was getting ready to start filling the bags of water to complete the plan to beat the machine when I was discovered by my old 9th grade English teacher. She said that she was working for the Yakuza and I would fail her class unless I betrayed Kaiji. I yelled "I'll never betray Kaiji!" and was left standing near a Final Fight arcade machine. I woke up after that.
  • I remember I was walking through a cube farm in an office building and was watching a guy packing up his things in a box like he had just been fired, laid off, or retired. Thing was, the guy had no head. Also I have no idea why exactly but I just know it was a guy.
  • So I was really tired this morning after getting up, and I ended up nodding off a couple times on the bed before going to work. The last one of these instances, no longer than a few minutes, had probably the strangest dream I've ever experienced.

The dream really was one of those nightmares you see in movies. Not in the horror of the dream itself, though there was one freaky part in it. But it was a dream where I was as fully lucid as you can really get, and I was actively trying to wake myself up from within the dream. The dream was simple enough, I was just walking around in my apartment, though I knew it wasn't really because the structure was different and constantly shifted. Very quickly into the dream I realized that I was dreaming, and I wanted to wake up since I was already late for work and such.

So what do you do when you're in a dream and you want to wake yourself up? I yelled, "Wake up!" over and over again. I jumped around the apartment. I slapped myself in the face, but each time felt like I was numb all over and couldn't feel anything. Eventually I got to the point of trying to pinch myself, but the result of that was that the arm I pinched started growing weird green barnacle like things on it (hence the freaky part). I can now say with certainty that it is really damn scary when you want to wake up from a dream but you can't. Eventually my dream self calmed down, and it was at that point that I actually woke up.

This is the first time that's ever happened to me, so I figured it was worth sharing.

Bad move. Yelling is actually an effective method of maintaining a lucid dream.
  • So what do you do when you're in a dream and you want to wake yourself up?
    Kill yourself.
