Just make a paragraph at the top under the logo like this.
You are now at GeekNights, a podcast for multidimensional geeks! Shows are released 4 times a week Monday- Thursday. Shows range from 45-60 minutes. We discuss games, technology.....
And continue on.
Do people pay attention to those? Plus it would clutter it up.
Okay, personally, I love the current theme, and much dislike the new one. Everything is gone. My personal web design philosophy is keep it accessible to both audiences that visit, whether they are new or returning.
So I propose that you make an introduction page. When you go to www.frontrowcrew.com, you see a page that introduces you to the podcast and website. It shows you the geeknights logo, a general synopsis of the show, and maybe a link to the feed. Under this, there are two buttons, New listeners and Returning listeners. This is really only for effect, because the New listeners button would direct you to the new page you designed, which is minimalistic and easy for new people to grasp and browse, and the returning listeners button would direct you to the current page we have now. Then, all you have to do is bookmark the returning listeners link, and you never have to see that intro again. This prevents the annoyance of clicking the button every time you want to see the site.
Anyway, this is my proposal. Maybe you like it, maybe you don't, but I just don't care for the new site. It seems to me that there's not a lot of reason for any of us to visit it, only new listeners. I like to click on Scott's Flickr, or Rym's del.icio.us every now and then. I don't want to bookmark them just to look at them every once in a while.
I hope you understand where I'm coming from and I hope this helps.
There's one thing you should never do (except you're a porn site): having people click a button to enter the site. It's a useless step, which goes against the 5 second thingy Rym and Scott talked about. However the old design could be kept up on a sub domain.
I'm having trouble understanding why people aren't taking to it. ANYTHING is better than what exists now, even a black background with white text and a command prompt.
[Edit] Incidentally, there's a WordPress theme that does just that. Demo.
[Edit2] What was wrong with this theme? People in that thread seemed to have fewer qualms over it.

That is what an "about" page is for. Introductions and everything are put there.

I had qualms with that one too. Since everyone loved it, I didn't want to seem like a jerk and nay say it. So instead I tried to work with it... and it didn't turn out too well.
Honestly, though I like this design, I like the older one Sail mentioned better. I feel like the blue borders in this version draw too much attention away from the rest of the site. Make them lighter or smaller, and I would be happy. Or just go with what everyone else says, since I seem to be outnumbered.

Yes, but what about the 5 second rule? They would see it right away and understand what GeekNights is.
Frankly speaking, the current design sucks. It's not easy to locate anything. Besides, I told someone to listen to GeekNights once, and directed him to the website. I asked him whether he'd listened a couple of days later, and he told me he didn't get what the podcast was supposed to be about or anything of the sort.
Simply put,
Current design = bad Second redesign = great Conclusion = change.
I fail to see how anyone can like the current design ... except maybe for the fact that the font is nice-looking.
Scott, when is this re-design coming into play? I don't know if you've said something and I have missed it, but it has been pretty quiet for a while. Or are you still awaiting more feedback before you make any changes?
