I think that the first game I beat was probably A Boy and His Blob. I also remember getting 100% on Kirby's Dreamland for NES.
I can't believe you beat A Boy and His Blob. I also got 100% on Kirby's Adventure for the NES. Kirby's Dreamland is a GameBoy game. ph33r my Kirby knowledges.
Anyone remember Kirby's Pinball? They should bring that shit back instead of Metroid Pinball.
The first game I beat was Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Those were some great times until the cartridge broke. I don't think I can count how many mornings I spent trying to fix the stupid thing.
I think its around that time when I found out about the "blowing" trick, but it still didn't work.
Well, I got into games rather late in life because my parents didn't approve of them. Anyway, the first game I ever beat was Grandia 1. It was damn hard too, since there were three different bosses and you couldn't save or heal between each fight. Also, if you didn't grind enough to have all of your magic skills maxed out, then you were pretty much fucked.

Thanks for the correction! As to A Boy and his Blob, it was a family affair. My mom kicked that games ass! She got to the point where she could beat the game in like 15 minutes, she figured out some handy trips, like using to coconut to eliminate a lot of the traps on blobonia. Damn...Now I want to play, but I don't have the patience for games like that anymore.

Your mom is badass. I can't even beat A Boy and His Blob. My mom is great at the Super Breakout, but that's about it.
My Gameboy was broken when I first got it though -- the down button was stuck, so Mario was always crouched (at least it made it easier to find hidden pipes). I couldn't get past the 3rd world because of this. But then my mom dropped my Gameboy and suddenly it fixed the D-pad problem, so I was able to beat the game.
I think my first game beaten was Pokemon Red. Was totally kick ass. Second was some Ninja game for my Gameboy Color. I don't remember the name, but there was no save option, and the entire game could be finished in about 45 minutes.
I think it was either Super Mario Bros. or Kid Icarus. I was trying to think back to the Atari days and determine if I had beaten any of those games, but it seems those games went on and on and on...
It might not have been the first game we beat, but I would imagine many of us have completed The Adventures of Link. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe I completed The Adventures of Link before I completed the original Zelda.
