A lot of dry clean only garments can be hand washed easily, especially if they are cotton or wool. Leather / Suede are the hardest fabrics to clean, and cost a ton of money. You have to take them to a specialty cleaner, which usually charges 3-4x the dry cleaning price of similarly sized items.

Also, bamboo sheets are amazing, yet slightly more expensive than cotton. I don't know why anyone would ever get polyester/mixed (60/40) sheets, ever. And for winter, it's flannel all the way.

Wool gives me more trouble than leather.

Here is how I clean leather:

I brush off anything caked on with a brush. I get some saddle soap and give it a sponge bath. I dry it off. I get some leather oil and give it a good oiling. Hooray! My leather is good to use again. :)

  • I have two tuxedos made from wool. But are very nice to wear. I have a third which is a blend of wool and some synthetic material which is lighter but creases more easily, meaning I have to iron it more when I travel.
  • Cords, cotton and linen.
  • You forgot one option that is my personal favorite....rubber.

But seriously cotton is nice. I also like linen from time to time.
  • Gotta go with Rym on this one Linen rocks!
  • I hate wearing silk clothing, it feels so weird when it moves against the skin. I shudder when I think about it. On the other hand, I do like silk clothing on women. Women just look so sexy in silk.

My current textile of choice is cotton for normal clothes and linen for more formal clothes.
  • Nothing beats a comfortable green linen shirt :]

Or undies for that matter :P
