    I think maybe that map just measures wealth.
    No way is Mongolia or Tibet(?) that rich. Or Germany that poor.
    And I want to know what metrics they are using to measure "happiness".

    I guess it'd probably just have to be polling, right?

    Right, but what questions do you ask? "How happy are you?" What meaningful data could you get on "happiness"?

    I think that's probably about it. Maybe rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 or something. Happiness is so subjective that I don't think you CAN rate it on anything but how happy a person says they are.

    Even if you were going around asking people if they are happy, how many could you ask? Everyone? What if everyone they asked in Russia was having a crappy day?

    People! Learn to read! They don't use any metric. It's a map of subjective well-being.
