Someone used this word in the Obama Nation thread, and I decided to look it up. It's actually a misspelling. It should be "vet." See Merriam-Webster for details (second usage, transitive verb).

To be honest, the writer may have been verbing the ubiquitous nickname of Corvette in order to denote a sense of speed or escape (e.g. - "The cops are here! Let's vette!"), but that would be a tad too cromulent for my tastes.
