  • Yes, and that would mean you would expect to have 1.65 DDR machines within 15 miles of you
Assuming an even distribution of machines.
  • Help
    Which knob is for Volume?
    There, good luck.

Thanks for the tips, I was doing really good today. I got a few A's on beginner and a few B's and C's on Light. I'm really proud of that I was able to get a B on Butterfly on light.

  • Can someone do me a huge favor?
If you have a Ignition Dance Pad 3.0, can you see if the USB works with the USB in the back of the Wii?
I know this is a lot to ask but, being kinda broke and wanting to make a worthy investment in a nice DDR pad and I want in to be compatible as possible.

Yeah, there certainly wouldn't be, but then you'd probably expect DDR machines closer to the actual concentrations of people, which is where you're more likely to live anyway.

Well, I just had a bad buying experience. I went to Bust Buy and bought one of the React Universal pads, and the kid at the store said it had USB; Wrong. Then when I got home, the zipper broke upon assembly, and the pad didn't like my Wii; It keep hitting the down arrow by itself. So the lesson I learned is to buy the nice Ignition pad and don't buy the POS React pad.

    Edit:
How good are the Ultramix games for the original XBOX?

They are kind of sucky and extremely easy. If you are going to get a usb pad, just download the official songs and play Stepmania.

    Download how?
I guess the best question to ask is where do I get the must have Stepmania songs? I downloaded a torrent that had a lot of the arcade mix's, a hundred or so, the problem is that I don't want to waste time browsing through the vast library on the Stepmania site. Any suggestions? Like rips/copies of mixes and diffrent versions. For example, a song pack that has all the songs from a Playstation 2 version of DDR, but has identical arrows and songs, and is Stepmania compatible.

This site has official DDR files: http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v4/simfiles.php. Only issue is that you have to download them one by one...<_<
This site has batch downloads for official DDR stepcharts: <a href="http://www.ddruk.com">DDRuk
This site has good edits and rarely official files: bemanistyle
Then the actual stepmania site has a lot of good quality charts. Bemanistyle is just like a lot of things, there are gems, but you have to dig through a lot of shit to get to them. The SM site actually has mostly good files.

    1. A simple check of their website or looking at Best Buy's online description for the pad would have told you that the pad doesn't have USB. That's your own fault for not finding that out first.
    2. Why are you playing DDR on the wii? There is absolutely nothing worth playing on it, IMO.
    3. also, I'm pretty sure the React pads either have a warranty upon buying them, or you could get an extended warranty for a couple extra bucks. Either way, I'm sure you could just return the pad and get a new one or get your money back.

As for Ultramix...frankly, I don't think it's worth the money for any home version DDR games. The ps2 games being rare exceptions. Though, there are a good chunk of songs I like from Ultramix 1-4 anyways.

  • I play on the Wii, because it's my only way to play at home now, until I get that Ignition Pad. As for the purchase research, it was kinda an impulse buy. I returned it at and got my cash back.
  • Also, do you live close to a machine? Really, I'd invest that $70 you're gonna be spending on that Ignition in some arcade tokens if there's a machine nearby.

Yeah, I have a machine about 20 minutes, there, It's a good, original Japanese DDR Extreme 8th mix machine and the college kids that work there play vs with me ever once in a while when they got time to kill. It's a good deal, it's $1.25 for 5 songs.
But, the gas is what gets me, I don't have the money to fill the tank up right now and my parents are being to sticky about giving me the money for a fill. I'm also currently unemployed, I applied to like 4 places and now I got to wait a week or so and school is starting in month. *sigh*

I've already ordered the pad, it will be about a week or so, and I got a connector for my Mac so I can hook it up to the TV, now I need some Bitch'n speakers and a sub woofer, and I'm set!

  • speakers and a sub woofer,
More money in the gas/tokens fund, if you ask me.
  • I just realized that my HTPC is missing one very important thing.

    That thing is DDR.

Of course I know all about Stepmania. That's all well and good. But I have ePSXe. I just realized that I can play THE REAL DDR. Problem is, I can't find it on teh Internets. I found a copy of Extra Mix, which is good, but I really need 4th and 5th mix, especially 4th. Anyone out there find anything? Any FRC peoples still have their old PSX discs?

Living near LA, there are at least 3 places with DDR machines within driving distance of me that I know of. Which is a helluva lot more than there were when I was living near Providence, RI.

Gahh! I have an iso of 4th mix somewhere. Have to find it! (Burned it from RedOctane back in the Colony days).
  • The extra mix rom I got has a problem that many people discuss online. It is hideously out of sync, making it useless.
  • I've been playing a lot suddenly after installing Stepmania and loading up a perfectly legitimate copy of DDR mixes 1-8.

Wildwood's DDR environment (the only place we really have left to use actual arcade machines) has been pretty piss poor lately, and I've now remembered the sheer joy of playing DDR in a nice, quiet room with the music blasting unhindered. No annoying punk kids, no loud jukeboxes, no quarters: just dancing. This game is more awesome than I'd remembered it being: I'm back to "those days" of DDR at RIT. Just have to get a second pad up ins and we're in business.

    DDR renaissance!

We should play together sometime. I need to get back into it, it's always been a great way to keep me active.
  • I've been wanting to get into DDR for the longest time, but have never been able to. It seems like I can't find the right difficulty setting for myself. If I put it on the easiest difficult, it ends up being too slow and I just end up pressing the buttons with my feet rather than "dancing." Besides this my room is upstairs and I really can't be jumping around very much because I know it wouldn't really be good for the floor, and my room doesn't have much space either.

This is why different songs are different difficulties. Look at the foot meter. Some songs on basic are just one foot, other songs on basic are three or four feet. More feet = more hard. Go up one foot at a time until you can't win. Then keep playing songs on that level until you can do it, and then go one foot harder.
