Oreos invade Britain.

  • Apparently, it's an eternal struggle amongst the Brits.
  • I have never heard anyone pronounce the word improperly.
My mom switches between the two pronunciations, mostly because of the influence of her Canadian best friend who pronounces it the "scauns" way.
  • It's cones with an S. Scones!

Anyway, this article made me laugh. I wish I seen a brit trying Oreos for the first time.

I don't think I ever had their "biscuits" and the thought of cookies dipped in tea is nasty.
  • "Before we know it, the next generation of kids will not know the word biscuit at all," he grumbles. "Whether it's fast food, TV chat-shows, or cookies, we must resist all that is American for the sake of our own souls."

I busted a gut after reading that bit.

The British owe us an apology. They slap their name on English Muffins even though they don't sell them in England. Shame on you. All that nook and cranny goodness. You don't know what you're missing.

It's like Canadian bacon all over again.

Thomas English Muffins + a toaster + Temp Tee whipped cream chesse + real apricot jellies = Scott's breakfast.
  • Yuck, english muffins for the lose (in my opinion). They have a strange flavor to them, and their texture is just gritty and weird.

I am 100% with you. I hate English Muffins.
  • English muffins are awesome baked in the oven with tuna and cheese.
  • Has anyone else from England has never heard of these muffin things?

Nooks and Crannies in the house!

Yeah, they sell them in all the supermarkets. Goes great toasted with cheese, yum yum.

English biscuits (cookies) are the best, sorry America. Furthermore, biscuits were made to be dipped in tea....made for it!
  • Somebody needs to edit the Wikipedia entry for English Muffins. Look at this quote:
[English] Muffins should also not be confused with Crumpets, which are entirely much more fun.

    Journalism at its best.
  • People outside England might not understand how important getting down your tea dunking technique is.

No one outside of England would be pretentious enough to care.

Except for my teaphile friend, who once threatened to slap me for using tea bags.

    His ancestors were probably loyalists.

Yeah, I haven't done that in awhile. Maybe I'll do it this week for dinner.

No! No no no no! That's blargh!

Just butter for me thank you. Although, I do love cream cheese and jelly sandwiches but I never had it on an English muffin.
  • As far as cookies go... nothing is better than a real Tollhouse Chocolate-Chip Cookie still warm from the oven.

Back in 1930, Kenneth and Ruth Wakefield purchased a Cape Cod-style TOLL HOUSE located halfway between Boston and New Bedford, on the outskirts of Whitman, Massachusetts. Originally constructed in 1709, the house served as a haven for road-weary travelers. Here, passengers paid toll, changed horses and ate much-welcomed home-cooked meals. It was also here, over 200 years later, that the Wakefields decided to open a lodge, calling it the TOLL HOUSE Inn.
My parents used to take us there every few months when I was a kid. I have not been there in years though my brother lives a few minutes away. I think it is now just an outlet store for the cookies.
