  • You know I'm no fan of McCain, but even I have to admit that he's better for the economy than Obama. It pains me to admit it, but it's true.

Hello, is there any way I can file a complaint about this?

I think I remember the perpetrator banging on at one time about honesty and integrity. This little prank shows how much honesty and integrity he possesses.

Jesus, Joe. Lighten up. I thought I would interject a little humor.

Aren't you the one who is always saying that there is free speech here, and if you don't like it leave?

Why the hypocrisy all of the sudden? Your skin is paper thin.

  • Impersonating someone else on the internet is not an exercise of free speech so much as a psychotic plea for help.
  • Man, The dark ages are coming and you guys are playing jokes :-p

Jokes are the last refuge of the optimistic.
  • If you don't wanna cry you gotta laugh, right?
  • Kilarney, it's not cute, it's not funny. DO NOT assume other people's identities for any reason, even if humor is the only intent. It is childish and deceitful. Stop it.
  • Kilarney, lately you have been trolling it up. Please stop. Please?
  • *cough* You know, while I agree that Kilarney seems to have been trolling a bit as of late, HungryJoe is no less to blame for his direct and obvious personal attacks. I mean, "rape-kit?" Seriously, grow up.

I'll admit that I must appear abrasive to the kiddies, such as Prof. Pangloss. However, I'll stand by the "Rape-Kit" nickname. Anyone who believes that a rape-kit is like a kit a person keeps in the car for emergencies on the road, and then publicly admits to such a belief in an era in which anyone can look up anything on Google, deserves to have scorn and abuse heaped upon him.

On top of that, it appears to be a great way to shut him up, for now.

Hey to your guys defense, the Internet wasn't really around for your younger years :-p
  • McCain suspends his campaign to go back to Washington to help with the economic crisis.

He also asks Obama to do the same as well as suspend the debates this Friday. I can't help but think that McCain is using this as a reason because he might not be ready for Obama in the debates. Just a thought.

Also, can having McCain and Obama back in Washington make a big difference on the bailout plan being pushed by the White House?

Regardless, I will have to admit this was a smart move done by McCain. It sort puts Obama into a corner for making a decision.

While it might force Obama's return to Washington, it won't hurt his campaign. Obama's strategy is generally to wait until near the end of the campaign to unload some serious stumping.
  • The only thing that has changed in the last 48 hours was the polling numbers

It is interesting. If you read an another article on CNN it appeared that Obama had called his campaign this morning about a joint press release about the crisis and the McCain campaign apparently moved forward with this...

One can only hope, however I was really looking forward to the debates this Friday.
  • The timing makes it look like a very weak political ploy. It's not like he didn't have the opportunity to make such a proposal earlier this week or even last week. I think McCain is scared of the debates.

I foresee a compromise: The debate will be held but campaigning will be minimized after friday.
  • The timing makes it look like a very weak political ploy.
Well it's obvious to those who can see it and are willing to see it, however there will be many people who will see it as being "responsible" or "sacrificing".
  • It's odd that he feels such an urgent need to be in the Senate, when, out of 643 votes taken in the current Senate session, he missed 412 of them. He hasn't voted since April 8th, and he's missed 109 of the last 110 votes since March. Source.
  • You don't ditch Letterman!
  • I recant my first statement. McCain is totally bailing out on the debate because he knows he'll be dominated. You know what? let the big pussy hold off on the debates. Have the VP debates while we wait. That should be tons of fun.

My prediction is that McCain tries to put off the debates as long as possible, or tries to have them canceled.
  • When I was talking with Newt Gingrich last night, he was openly mocking Obama for wanting to move ahead with the debates, saying he thinks Congress should just stay in session over the weekend to get Wall Street sorted -- as though Congress will find an alternative to the Paulson plan in the next few days.
  • When I was talking with Newt Gingrich last night...
    Waitwhat?

  • Did you like how I did that? There will be a blog post about it.
That will be very cool to read. Me looks forward.
Meanwhile, I thought it was funny which word was the largest from this thread when doing a Wordle:
I like how it says "Joe you hungry interject" almost in the same colors. It amused me.

Couric actually tries to get Palin to give a straight answer.
In her interview with Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) tonight, CBS’s Katie Couric noted that the governor has said, “John McCain will reform the way Wall Street does business.” “Can you give us any more examples of his leading the charge for more oversight?” Couric asked. Palin, however, refused to answer the question directly, instead going on about how McCain is seen as a “maverick.” When pressed further by Couric, Palin was unable to name any examples of McCain pushing for more regulation:

PALIN: I can give you examples of things that John McCain has done, that has shown his foresight, his pragmatism, and his leadership abilities. And that is what America needs today.

COURIC: I’m just going to ask you one more time - not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation.

PALIN: I’ll try to find you some and I’ll bring them to you.
    More of this, please.

    Recap of McCain's week. Priceless.
-- McCain campaign manager Rick Davis not only worked for Freddie Mac, but Davis persuaded the troubled lender to pay his lobbying firm, Davis Manafort, $15,000 a month for not working because he was close to John McCain.

-- Alaskans are now beyond miffed at Palin's troopergate machinations. Especially since it's McCain folks from outside Alaska who are roiling the political waters.

    . . .

-- Palin did so badly that McCain tried a reverse maneuver to overshadow her crapitude. (With McCain's $5,000 make-up pro in tow?)

-- To do this, McCain had to cancel Letterman. By lying. What's worse than pissing off a comedian with a daily late night show? Other comedians now must one up Letterman's snarking about your craptastic idiocy. Because comedians cannot help themselves. Just tack a "big joke" sign on McCain's forehead now.

    -- Palin. Witchcraft exorcism. Um...

-- Then there's the too frazzled to debate maneuver with a side of chicken. And the leaked McCain memo on selling it.

Did I miss anything? Oh yeah, the economy is still tanking...as are McCain's electoral numbers.

His Republican-ness is pre-World War old school. Not only is he fiscally conservative, he's also isolationist.
