  • No need to carry a bomb through the air.

I don't think he understands how the US Strategic Reserve works. It's not exactly bombable.

This I know. But even if it were just a single big storage facility, like the granaries of ancient civilization, or Fort Knox, it would still be incredibly difficult to bomb.

Oh yes, I know it's spread all over the country, I'm just being silly, don't worry about that. :)

YES! I was trying to find the .gif, but the internet failed me.
  • As long as we have fuel.
Hence why we shouldn't drill offshore or tap our strategic reserve.
Agreed. If we use that shit up, we leave ourselves open to someone coming and kicking our asses. It could be 1812 all over again. F-22s don't mean shit if you can't get them off the ground.
You guys may be glad to know that the Air Force has mandated biofuels (derived from linseed rape I think) on all aircraft by 2011. I don't have a link to the article that talks about that (it was in Airman Magazine), but this one talks about synthetic fuel initiatives within the branch.

Excuse me? Fuel made from rape?! God, English has the craziest names for some plants. Sure, we call it 'coalseed', but that's still less crazy than 'rapeseed'.

McCain is booed by his own supporters as he tells them to be respectul of Obama.

I saw a few videos of this on CNN and YouTube. I think that this was a good move of McCain, even though the crowd still booed when he told them to not be scared if Obama becomes president. I would have love to have seen the face on the reaction to that old lady who called Obama an Arab when McCain tells her that he's not. However, I found it to be hilarious in the tone of her voice when she said "No?" after McCain shook his head to her.

  • I see this as pure racism. Except these people don't want to say it so blatantly. Imagine spreading the "He's a Muslim" rumour about a white polititian. Would it ever gain traction? I think not. Each time I hear a jeer about Obama being a terrorist, a traitor, a Muslim or countless other baseless accusations, it is clear what is actually meant.

Does it matter if it is racism or hatred of a religion? Either way it is bigotry.
  • Hating or fearing someone for being a muslim, no matter if he actually is one or not, is despicable in itself.
  • It's a good thing I'm not a benevolent dictator, because some (most) of the people spewing this filth and showing such utter disrespect and inhumanity would be rounded up and summarily executed.

That doesn't sound very benevolent to me.

My point was that they are SAYING it is hatred of a religion, but they are just latching onto that non-fact so as not to state their actual racist reasons. If they were being honest and actually had a beef with Obama's religion, I'd understand it more. But Obama is a Christian, and so are these bigots, so a blatantly untrue assertion is required for them to feel good about keeping up their level of racist hatred, but disguised as something else.

I know. Name one "benevolent dictator" that was actually benevolent.

Ramon Castilla, my country never really had a proper president until after 1900. Most of the previous "presidents" where generals that fought between each other every 6 years. The strongest stayed in power for another 6 years unless there was rebellion. But he seemed like a pretty cool guy since he freed all slaves (native americans and blacks) by 1854.

Also Simon Bolivar was not such a cool guy.

But his name is very fun to say, especially in an affected South American accent. Simone Bolivar!
  • In another stunning show of stupidity, supporters were spoken to in Iowa by Rev. Arnold Conrad. In another example of the epic failure and bigotry of the right wing, he had everyone pray for McCain's victory to prove a Christian god was more powerful than any other god. Yeah, there's a lot wrong with that. Here's the link.

  • Well, Bush has just fucked McCain over in the nerd vote... As japanator reports it, Bush just signed some law that, whilst I'm sure will do fuck all to actually stem the tide of piracy, will more or less give McCain the black spot from the nerd vote.
  • some law
    That's just... stupid.

I'll take it your referring to me thinking it will fuck McCain over.

You'd think that but McCain has to fight this election on two fronts, the first being the electoral race (which, if you don't mind me saying, he doesn't seem to be doing a very good job at it) and the second being to fight out of the rather large shadow of stupidity that Bush has created for the Republicans, signing this law doesn't do anything to help the second part.

I was actually referring to the law in question.

Everyone should check out Keith Olberman's final thoughts on last night's Countdown. He says everything I was thinking, calling McCain on their complacency in dealing with the inappropriate comments their crowds shout out, and also pointing out that McCain is trying to play the victim when talking about Lewis's comments. Video links at the bottom.

That was pretty good. I think the only way Obama would lose the election is if he ate a live baby on stage, even then it would be pretty close.

Well, as far as America goes (*Waves the Scottish flag), if you're black, you had might as well be eating babies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with an extra helping of falcon punch abortions for each meal.

Or at least, that's the "outsider looking in" view on the situation: America could be the land of the free and plenty for all races for all I know.

I'm pretty cynical, but I'd say a majority of Americans are caring, intelligent, good natured people. However in this election, the racist psychotic redneck fuckwits have been extremely vocal and are making us look very very bad. People like O'Reilly and Limbaugh and Savage make things worse as well (if you don't know those names, consider yourself blessed).
