  • Out of curiousity, is there a point to building the most awesome/fierce creature in the first stages if it is all vehicles and space exploration later? The assumption being that lasers and high tech > claws/teeth.
Yes, and they call them consequence traits. If you eat more meat than veg in the Cell stage, you gain (red/aggressive) Carnivore abilities, not just in the next level, but in every following level, such as the Raging Roar ability in Creature, Traps in Tribe, Invulnerability in Civ and Power Monger in Space. The next stage, you might chose to be nice and Social, in which case you get the (green) Social abilities for the stages that follow. And eventually, once you get into space, the mixture of Red, Green and Blue (neutral) consequence traits you've accumulated over the previous phases determines your space phase super power.
  • I just got the game around three hours ago, and I am loving it so far. I didn't have to jump through any hoops to get it installed, though. I wonder if it makes any difference to the DRM if you are running the game on a Mac.
  • It's pretty good. I didn't expect it to be the best game ever, but it's not bad. Naturally the customization is what's most fun about it.

..I don't really have anything to say that hasn't been said.
  • I was disappointing with some objects in the Vehicle Creator that would not do things like free rotate.
You can hit tab to come up with hidden rotating options. The only real limiter I have found is the complexity meter.

Thanks DOOD, you get mad points!

I was playing for about 7-hours today and it's hella fun!
  • This site is comedy gold: Anti-Spore.
  • I played my friends copy and enjoyed it quite a bit. I was a herbivore and went along the "nice-make-friends" way.

I tried to make my creature boobish like, but that became hard once outta the water.

    Quite the complex rickroll there.

I just played up to the space stage. The creation is definitely the most fun, but I seem to have very little creativity/skill in that arena. :(
  • The came is hell'a fun! I'm about half-way through the space stage, then another game on easy, and then off to try and do the game on hard. Wish me luck!? Check-out my account for some awesome creations of mine, including, a tachinkoma, yes, a tachikoma.

Ah, so it's potentially possible to make the best combination, release your spawn among the universe of spore players, and slaughter them where they stand? Or is the AI a moron, like in most of these types of games?

    AI is kind of dumb...
But yes, my pacifist herbivore gets his ass kicked if I walk near guys with spikes and teeth and outchy.
    So I just avoid them.

But it's not like there is just 1 combination of "best parts". It's easy to make the "best creature" but that wouldn't be as fun in my eyes.

Just like in role-playing, you can be a half dragon, half demigod... But I really don't find that as fun as playing a dumb kid who tries his hardest and gets his ass kicked if he screws up.
  • I've gotten a chance to play the game about as fully as is reasonable to make judgment, and from my view it's O.K. not great but better than some. My only real complaints are in the flow of the game, namely that the transition between stages is exceedingly abrupt, until the civ stage, and the game tends to get really repetitive as it lacks any serious openness outside of the creator. AI is really easy to deal with especially in the space stage where you just have to wait till you get better weapons and then defending yourself is trivial.
I like the creators but lacking any serious creative drive they don't hold my interest.
