  • A bunch of nerds hotlinking shock pictures
That stereotype of 4chan is so far from the truth it's laughable.
No, it's really not. /b/ generates 50% or better of 4chan's traffic, so it's totally fair to characterize it thusly. Yes, there are boards that have their uses (I frequent /mu/ to learn about new bands), but the largest percentage of traffic is made up of retarded bullshit.
Yes it is, the stereotype might apply to some part of it but that like said, it is far from the truth.
But what else to expect from Axel?
Okay...I know most people don't like what I say. But was that really called for?
Sorry Axel, you'll just have to ignore the FRC official semi-troll for now. He's ok most of the time but when his troll mode is on, all hope is lost.

Okay...Thing is, I don't remember getting into an argument with him, like I have with many others...So I wonder, does my reputation spread that quickly? Quite sad.
  • He's like that with everyone, no need to get worried or anything. :)
  • But was that really called for?
I was merely referencing your tendency to adopt statements that appear very ignorant. It's not a personal attack or anything, really.
So I wonder, does my reputation spread that quickly? Quite sad.
Public forum, you have only yourself to 'blame'. Just because I haven't participated in a discussion with/against you, doesn't mean I can't read your posts and form an opinion about the forums' lost little sheeple based on that. n_n

Seems kinda like a personal attack. It's personal, because you're referring directly to me and no one else, and it's an attack, because you're criticizing my flaws.
But I guess being the troll, I should stop feeding you.

the bullcrap outweighs the benefit by far.
You mean like how, from what I've been lead to believe, it's basically 4chan without the few small redeeming factors 4chan has?
HA! I'd take 4chan over Gaia anyday. There's no comparison.
    Gaia once had good roleplaying...
But then that died. That's when I stopped caring.
I don't see the 4chan comparison at all, though. A bunch of nerds hotlinking shock pictures is not a bunch of people in the chatterbox starting slave threads so they can cyber. Both are depressing, but different.
I see the very same comparison in that stupid Habbo Hotel site. It used to be cool where people could chill and have a good time, nowadays not so much.

No it wasn't, but that's just our fellow jerk here. Also, I feel that you and me are very much alike here Axel. A lot of the forumites for the most part don't like (coughRocough) what we say and a lot of people just don't pay attention to us. It's hard but we weather it through with patience. But that's just my perspective, so yeah.

EDIT: fixed the semi-troll thing since it's a stupid and unnecessary word.

It's cool, Yupa. But if people do that, like I just said, we really should stop feeding them by acknowledging it...
  • Just wondering, isn't "jerk" a better word than "semi-troll" in these sorts of situations? "Semi-troll" just sounds a little awkward.

Back on topic though, I have been awesome with the weight loss routine! I've exercise-burned about 700 calories max, 350 minimum each night. I'll probably see a result the next time I (finally) weigh myself. Really makes me feel accomplished. :D

I don't think jerk is strong enough a word. Meh, who cares. Semi-troll doesn't really sound that awkward to me.

Awesome, what kind of exercise are you doing? At 350 calories/day, without changing your diet, you should be losing about a pound every 10 days.

Yeah, that is a good weight loss. Much more and it'd be unhealthy. But your workout is good, a healthy weight loss.
  • Thank you!

Mostly walking and a lot of Dance Dance Revolution. I've been at it for over a year and I've lost over 30 pounds. And I have changed my diet, been on 1200 to 1500 per day (with 1 cheat day per week). My mom's a nurse and a fitness expert; following her advice was what finally gave me a weight loss breakthrough.
  • That's a good schedule. I wish my DDR mats didn't break, then I would play more...

Oddly enough, I really ought to gain some weight. I'm dreadfully underweight, due to a combination of inactivity and small, selective diet. The diet thing will probably not change, as I'm stubbornly picky. But I really should exercise more...

If you exercise more, and you don't eat more, you will only get smaller.

Not necessarily. See, I have very little muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. Exercising would probably increase my diet, though not change it. I would eat more of what I already eat. That's what I meant by not changing. If I ate more and exercised, I would develop more muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat. Over time, I would gain weight.
  • Exercising would probably increase my diet, though not change it. I would eat more of what I already eat.
Completely true. That's why I said "If you exercise more, and you don't eat more". But you're what, 17? Your metabolism is going crazy right now. It's going to be difficult to gain weight without eating like crazy, especially if you aren't prepared to add some seriously high-calorie foods. Your body needs a lot of excess calories to build muscle.

True...But my metabolism has always been crazy. Runs in my family. I'm also a late bloomer. Runs in my family too.
  • Fun is right. Eating is crucial to healthy weight gain. I'd consult a physician or another expert before the self-contradicting internets, though.

Crap, I forgot people on here were utter morons when it comes to telling sarcasm, it has to be unreadable before they start thinking.

Troll has no meaning on these forums. It's known I'm a jerk, it's just hip to call everything 'troll' so you'll see all the sheeple spew the word like fire.

@loltsuntsun, awesome sauce! If you don't mind me asking, what was your start and what's your goal? Also, isn't 1200 calories really low? Correct me if I'm wrong, but a healthy male needs something near 2500 calories, and a healthy woman would need about 2200 then, no? Good luck!
  • Haha. I like using normal language where internet speak would normally be used. I'm such a rebel.

Thanks! :) At my start, I was a little over 200 lbs. (which is a teeny bit embarrassing to say)... Right now I'm a little under 170. My goal is anywhere between 150 and 140. 140 is ideal, but if I'm happy with the way I look and feel at 150 then I don't wanna push myself too hard.

From what I was told, 1200 is the lowest you can go per day. Any lower and you're being dangerous. It's been working for me for over a year and I haven't had any health issues yet (quite the opposite). I'm a woman though, so I don't know if the same holds true for a man.
  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but a healthy male needs something near 2500 calories
It depends on your lean mass and overall metabolism. My RMR is roughly 2400 calories/day, and that's as a 290-something pound male with 30 - 33% body fat. That puts me at about 200 pounds of lean mass, which is a lot of stuff to fuel. It also varies with your level of activity. Sedentary people need less food, while people who are up and about all day need more, and champion Olympic swimmers need 3 times what anyone else does.

There are a ton of websites out there that will help you estimate your basal and resting metabolic rates. I recommend using several sites that use different calculations and finding the average; that'll give you the best idea of your ideal calorie range.

Okay, so it's just really fracking low, for a male it'd probably be 1500.

200 pounds's not that bad (unless you're very short, but then your goal would still result in a high BMI), and we should switch weight, I'm just below 140! Yup... I'm a scrawny faggot.

Yeah, hence the 'healthy male' I noted down. As for me, eh, I'm underweight, don't even need a bunch of sites to confirm that.

I thought the new rule was use green for sarcasm...
That seems like a good rule, if you're being sarcastic towards someone in a mean way.
Reading sarcasm over the internet is difficult. Not like in real life. There are almost no context clues that you were being sarcastic, and we don't know each other, so I don't know when you are usually sarcastic...

  • I thought the new rule was use green for sarcasm...
Not a rule, just a meme. I prefer to use this:

  • Just get used to it, Axel.
I, for one, sometimes like to make my sarcasm in real life harder to detect as well.

Whatever. It's just people have actually been mean to me on this forum, and been sarcastic. So, it's sorta difficult to assume one or the other.
  • We disagreed with you and argued with you. I don't remember ever being mean, though. (I did tease you about being a prude.)
  • Well, I don't think you were mean, but there are probably some who were. For all I know, some might think I was mean...
  • I wasn't talking about you, gomidog. Others have been mean on different occasions, not necessarily during our arguments.
