This is, by no means, an advocacy for the entire internet, but in a small, intelligent community like our fair forum, I really think we could use a little more self-promotion. I know I'm probably alone in this philosophy, and I know there's a dark side, but it is something I believe could help those aspiring bloggers.
When I'm on the internet, it means I have free time. To get page views and the motivation to keep writing, a blogger needs people with time. It's not going to hurt me to read some thoughts by a person that I have some respect for; I'm just not going to look for it. But if there was an eclectic thread, and someone was inspired by it to write something of quality that is a little too self-indulgent or off-topic to warrant a post, post a link, be modest about it, and I still may give it a gander. Hell, if I liked what the person was saying, I may even subscribe (as long as the typical post wasn't the voyeuristic stuff we expect from a blog).
So, writers, you don't need a special, Geeknights-approved blog to grab this reader's attention, just make sure that the wordpress you have now isn't just on the forum's profile page that no one visits.
Is anyone still planning on posting on the blog besides me and Jason?
Yes, flat out like a lizard drinking trying to get everything done right now - seems to be a constant theme - so I'll be getting to it very soon - I've got two articles, one about expatriation 3/4 done, and the other one - about stand up comedy - about half done.
The blog has been quiet for a while, so bump for both the possibility of new posts and to get Jason to realize that I have submitted a few new articles (that are also on my blog if the Geeknights Fans blog is now defunct.)

I'm actually planning to just delete this blog later in the day, so it's funny you mentioned this. I've RSSed your blog (since about a month ago), by the way. Good job on it. If anyone feels like just writing one or two posts once in a while and doesn't feel like keeping up their own blog, feel free to throw them at me as guest blogs over on Quaedam. Netflix and work schedule changes (as well as laziness) have prevented me from posting a whole lot there recently, but I feel there will be a comeback soon.

I believe I have a wordpress username under the same identifier as my geeknights forum handle.
