I saw your videos man that game looks sweet. It really seems to be giving more flexibility and customisation that before. I also look forward to ShacTac charges in their jockey short.
Oh man, it finally looks like it will play with all the fluidity and effectiveness of the Tom Clancey games or Battlefield 3.
I try to love ARMA II, but the controls are dreadful and the game glitchy as hell. I have fond memories of Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six games, and they always felt polished and had fluid movement and shooting dynamics. On the other I always lamented that I couldn't drive a tank or jump out of a chopper.
This game looks like it will finally be on the right track. I'll have to try the alpha and see.
First time playing ARMAII I was on the ship prior to the first mission, I was walking over to a the pilot of the helicopter and one of the flight crew was laying dead on the ground next to the chopper. Was this disturbing to the pilot? No the pilot stood there and talked to me about houses and shit.
Also the guy manning the firing range had no business doing that, he would say I missed when I hit, and I hit when I missed... And also sometimes was correct. I think he just pulled his responses out of his ass.
I played it when I first downloaded it, to try and get a sense of things. I want to do some missions co-op but I don't know any people doing it and I never bother with pubbers on co-op games... So I havnt done much with the game yet, tho I havnt had time to look for people to try it with.
been playing the Alpha. Loving what I'm seeing so far, with the understanding that it's an Alpha so some buggy shit is fine.
But I'm not used to these games, been playing too much xbox... I havn't been so tied up in a while. The movement and combat is solid as any other KBM FPS, many props to them for making it work well (finally). But operator error leads me to getting hung up on shit that should be simple. I have to get used to the crouch vs stance adjust vs whatever different movement modes there are. I wish there was a stance indicator at least for starting out so I could double-check what I was doing. Many other games had that and here I can never quite tell if I'm crouched or not without hitting buttons to chance stance and see where I go.
Shooting is better than ARMAII (not too different than in the recent Operation Flashpoint games to be honest). Enemies just kinda fall over when they are hit; which should be more realistic than most games make us think, though it goes against the status quo of fps where there's a sort of positive response to a successful impact. I've grown used to that deceit that a little mark or hit sound marks a good hit, and nothing means keep shooting... here you just shoot and... well look to see what happened. Realistic and awesome, but takes that retraining.
From what little I've played, it's too bad enemies seem to be about as effective and coordinated as they were in the old Ghost Recon. Maybe it's an alpha thing? But it's been a trend so far in every game related to this genre I've come across.
Giantbomb has a pretty good quicklook of the Alpha.
I've also been playing it a little, it's interesting, and pretty fun. I've finished the Scuba showcase so far, it was challenging, but pretty fun. I like the new systems with the fatigues, LBVs, backpack and so on, and the scuba part is pretty interesting. I shot a fish, it looked dangerous. I'll definitely play it some more.
Anyone else notice any bullet drop? I shot at someone with an EBR (it was suppressed but had regular ammo) from a good 3-400 meters and to get the kill I was putting crosshairs on heads to do it. That doesn't seem quite right. I mean, when the 400m notch on the scope is well below my impact point at that range, either the optic I'm using isn't calibrated to the round I'm using, or something is messed up.

Maybe both.
A lot of guns - particularly anything with a longer range scope - you can zero them to particular distances. It was probably zeroed to 3-400 meters. Press pageup and pagedown to change it.
Apsup, Canine: Sent you friend requests. Confirm and I'll send over the keys.
EDIT: Most guns are zeroed out at 300m. Try engaging a target at 500-600m and look for the bullet impact. Also, I recommend everyone try out these mods:
I'm not a long-distance shooter by any means, especially not in the military sense of it, but i guess I figured the default zero would be 100 meters and require hold-over for anything more. I'll have to play around with it some.

It sounds liek the game is broken. Why dont the bullets just go in a straight line like Call of Duty?

Or, maybe, the bullet hit him in the chest and he died.

Got the idea from this.

Compassfix, ST_Hud, Foldmap, FA_GPS and HMM Stance Indicator. Note: Some of these mods require CBA, so get that too.
