Here is an example of why this show kicks ass from the latest episode that me and Li_Akahi find hillarious. Oh and one more thing, get over the laugh-track as it's a small price to pay for absolute hilarity.
The breakfast part of that episode was also hilarious Lordyupa. This is one of the only shows that I think is worth watching on the main networks recently. House is another one that is right up there with the big bang theory.
Most of the "chocolates" clip wasn't funny. I find the meta-situation of using chocolates as positive reinforcement to teach a housemate to be somewhat humorous, but that particular clip wasn't very funny.
"Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock" is funny, though.

Pretty much this. Still, it makes me want to give this show a shot.
This show just doesn't do it for me. Imightfind it mildly entertaining without the laugh track, but for the most part it's just kind of lame.
fucking laugh tracks should die in a fire. Newsradio was great except for the laugh track. Take one from freaking Arrested Development, your audience will figure out what is funny for themselves! (if it is actually funny)...
I've watched about a dozen clips from the show. You guys are free to like it, but it feels the same to me as every other generic themed sit-com. I'm afraid I just don't find it funny. It has the same pacing, joke style, and everything of every other sit-com. It's even mostly the same jokes. The only difference I can see between this and any other show is that they've basically mad-libbed geeky words into the proper noun slots.
The only reason I tune in to an episode of the show is to see Jim Parsons perform. He's the Michael Richards of this decade, only with far less racism.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is the only US comedy show I watch with any regularity. It's way formulaic, but so brilliantly plotted. I might have to take a look at Community, though.
"I'm a self-centered asshole that can't interact with the world!" Where is the punchline? There is none.
That may be the premise, but it's not the joke. The jokes on Seinfeld (and I've only seen a bit of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but it seemed to be similar) tended to lean toward absurdity, but they were certainly different jokes. For a show that actually does nothing but repackage a core of maybe a dozen jokes, see "Married...With Children."
This show gets funny when you're married. I watched it all last weekend.
On a side note, I don't understand these people who's life-styles and views change when they are married. Does a piece of paper really affect your life that much? I can see kids making things a little different (lots of work, changed family dynamic) but marriage? I dunno. Don't you just continue to hang out and snog and live life just the same as before? Why does tax status change everything up like that?

Well, marriage itself (the legal contract) shouldn't change a person or a couple, but commitment, love, and co-habitation certainly do change people. If I were single I would have made far different life choices, not BETTER choices, but different ones. When people commit to one another, they are at once a unit and individuals. When functioning as a unit, priorities and life decisions are shaped and changed based on the needs, wants, and desires of both. This doesn't mean compromising ones individual wants an needs, just tying the other person's wants and needs to your own happiness. There is a redefining of the self and the trajectory of ones life when that commitment is made. These changes should be desired and create shared joy/fulfillment.
What the hell? Everybody on this show is from Roseanne.
Is that a bad thing? Three actors are from Roseanne as far as I've seen. Laurie Metcalf was only in two episodes I've seen though, but did a wonderful job playing the religious mom.

I think this is actually better than the last clip.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is just the same joke over and over - I didn't like that joke on Seinfeld and I still don't like it on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
:P
