I would reccomend the Clip+ or the original Fuze
I have an original 8 gig clip, and I'm really happy with it. The only drawback with mine is that it has no microsd slot but 8 gigs is really fine for me anyway. If you're not going to watch much video, I'd recommend getting a clip plus and 16 or 32 gig microsd card. The original Fuze is a nice device from what I've heard. My mom has the sansa e250 which is basically one model before it, and the thing works great. I don't know about the Fuze+ but Sansas are usually pretty good devices anyhow. I just don't like the design of the Fuze+ because they got rid of the scroll wheel and have a touchpad thing instead.
Odd, the quote works now. The Fuze+ is a decent player but the Clip+ is abundant and the original Fuze is still relatively easy to find and they have rock solid firmware while the Fuze+ is still a work in progress. It has weird bugs like not resuming podcasts or skipping every second or two when you record from the radio(which became a major issue for a lady I sold it to). The only advantage the Fuze+ has in terms of features is that it plays video at higher than 20 frames a second, unlike the original Fuze. The original Fuze is also the closest thing anyone will ever make aside from terrible iFrauds to those 3rd generation iPod Nanos that so many people want.

  • Do they still make MP3 players other then Ipod/phone/other brands of phones? If so, why?

There's whole heaps of Korean and Japanese mp3 players out there that are at least as good as iPods. I've got a Samsung p3 that I'm quite happy with since it's lasted me longer either iPod I've had.

Yes, because not everyone wants to pay absurd amounts of money to listen to their digital music or they don't want to deal with Apple's BS. Also, iTunes is quite possibly the worst piece of software made by a major company that I have ever seen.
EDIT: I can really only speak for the Windows version, I did briefly use the Mac version but I did not sync my music the "right" way when I did and I no longer have the Macbook Pro or the iPod, it was a temporary situation.

  • I agree that iTunes for Windows is crap. On the Mac it's actually quite nice IMHO. If I wasn't already a Mac user, I'd probably use another brand of MP3 player, but I do like the fact that my iPhone lets me carry one gizmo in my pocket that does everything I need.

RealPlayer comes to mind but I'm sure it gets far worse.

I use the reduced install iTunes and it's not so bad, but only if you know how to set such a thing up.

Real Player doesn't completely seize up my computer for a minute or two at a time when I try to scroll through a list of videos.
