I saw TWiT's first live show at the Apple store in San Francisco. Didn't even know they were still doing a podcast. Then again, I'm kind of surprised PC Gamer and PC Magazine were still around, too.
As a Roku style device it seems like it works okay. Games don't run very well and the controller is butts by consensus. It most likely has integration with a lot of Amazon stuff too so if you are someone who buys music, TV, or movies from Amazon it might be good. I have an Apple TV because I can stream videos from my phone or iPad to my TV which I do pretty often with Giant Bomb videos.
I currently have a Roku and several game consoles. I don't need this device but I would like an inexpensive android box that I can attach directly to my TV for apps and media streaming.
Got into an argument over homosexual-teasing (Like fanservice in shows like Supernatural and Sherlock) and relationships done in mainstream media over television. Particularly in how network mainstream shows only seem to show gays in a negative light for the most part. I brought up that there are several animes that also do the act of teasing, but I was countered that as a whole, Japanese anime shows off far more normal homosexual relationships. There were lots of answers, but the biggest mainstream answer was "Sailor Moon." I'm thinking there is a higher tolerance, but our culture is limited to the amount of stuff shown and most of the homosexual material or relationships are not put into the mainstream.
So tl;dr, Does Japan have a better tolerance as a whole for portraying homosexuality than the United States?

Yes. Like anything that is considered liberal by the US society and public, any country outside of the US will be more willing to accept or investigate it with greater impartiality (as no government is truly impartial).
General media + average population education + lobbying + political system in the US fucks my mind up.
It also hurts that other countries are trying to emulate the US model e.g. British and Australian PM's straying away from the secular model and trying to choke the voting populations with their new found Christian importance.
On the off-chance that there are people here who actually mow lawns: Our lawnmower just died. It was in repairs over the winter but it just died again so I'm not considering buying a new one. Looking for an electric or gasoline powered push-mower. Cylinder mowers are so out of date that it's laughable, a tractor is overkill on the size of our yard, and a robot is too expensive. Any recommendations?

The Clippers guy who got banned from the NBA... I admit to only hearing part of the tapes but if you ignore the race of the guys involved it sounds like an old dude who doesn't mind his young girlfriend sleeping around he just doesn't want her flaunting it in public.
Was she only banging a certain race? Was she banging any white guys? Did he have a different reaction to her bringing white fuckbuddies to games?
The dude clearly has a history of being racist and getting in legal trouble over it but is the reaction to the tapes (and only the tapes) overblown?
The reaction is not overblown, but it is somewhat of a fake outrage by the NBA brass and them being forced to finally take action against the guy after these tapes were published and his racist views and behavior was publicized. The NBA also recently changed commissioners though.
Anyone know of a good set-up to make your tablet (android) look like its straight out of a sci fi movie, (i.e. Star Trek, Hitchhiker's Guide, Minority report, etc.)?
Greetings, I'm looking for a nas device to use for personal/home use, photos, video, etc. What's everyone using, and would you recommend it? Did anyone go the DIY route (FreeNAS, etc)? At the end of the day, is the DIY version much cheaper or worthwhile?
Does anyone have experience dealing with entities that accept your creative commons license to use your photograph and then later crop out the watermark on your image?

I've had experience in dealing with Buffalo Terastation units, in that we sold them to our customers as a turn-key NAS solution. They work well, and are fairly easy to manage, but they're not exactly cheap - even a basic 4x1TB one with the disks already installed is going to run you about $500. If you have the old computer parts sitting around to build a basic PC and you don't mind spending a little cash on some new drives you can rig yourself up a 4x1TB FreeNAS/NAS4Free box for about $250. You'll save yourself some money, but you'll be on your own for supporting it. Personally, I'd go for the "roll your own" approach, but that's just me.
I mean, the Department of Defense owns a lot of network infrastructure, so it's not really surprising to see packets going through one of their routers.
I first noticed this in the winter but now it is having this problem in the warmer weather.
The car shifts fine between first and second (little bit of a lurch) but as the car speeds towards third gear the tranny never shifts. I have gone as fast as 70 mph and still no shifting. Sometimes when I let off the gas at high speed and will shift into third as it slows down.
At high speed I can feel the high rpms vibrating the car.

Sounds like it might be a vacuum leak, if the fluid is fine.

I have a small yard and use a reel mower and a plug-in weed eater for edging. Takes about the same amount of time as a walk behind mower but no gas.
Edit: reel mower is a cylinder mower. I had never heard the term cylinder mower before.
